A bit of an interpretation. Humans use numbers to describe things they cannot otherwise understand just like modern science is a paltry attempt to understand the universe solely from the physical perspective. So numbers are naturally going to try and describe the physical aspects that result from different flows of energy that create matter but those rules break down the further away you get from the material plane.
It is a good starting place though to build yourself a solid platform to progress further. As to the obsessions of any specific numbers that comes down to personal interpretations and meanings. Tesla knew a lot but he hid a lot in code and symbol as well. So those numbers likely correspond very specifically to the system he was working with as stand ins for concepts that could not otherwise be explained or puzzle pieces.
Actually I think you would enjoy Franz Bardon’s books especially his book on evocation because it does list many spirits that would share your interest and could help you develop it further and understand these relationships if you so chose to purser it. Tesla’s work was overall very hermetic in nature at least from how I see it so looking there could help you. Bardon’s third book also explains a little on words of power and the reason for those number symbols.

I always assumed 72 was a reference to a geometric shape but meh
It has nothing to with xtian culture as that name predates them and is merely borrowed and mixed in with new terms and ideology. The actual source of the knowledge which has been appropriated lies more in the original practices that have been incorporated into practices such as the Hebrew Kabbalah. These have remained remarkably well preserved albeit encoded under a screen of ideology.

I think that if we get rid magic’s religious and superstrial aspect, there would be only science with a big S. That is to say that it would ressemble to the “quantum physics” and the “demons” would probably be solely energies … Fundamentally, are we not only energy? The rest is only theater. The numbers are only qualifiers for this Energy.
