Who is Melek Ta'us Azazel?

Interesting how these Yezidi threads never report what the Yazidis themselves are saying about their religion. They have an official website for their religion, you know?

They now actually claim that Melek Taus is based on Murugan, a Southern Indian deity, one of Shiva’s sons, who is also symbolised by the peacock.

As for the connection with Satan or Lucifer, in one sense, there are some parallels, since Melek Taus is supposed to be an Angel who has fallen, after he rebelled against God, but was then forgiven and re-admitted to Heaven, so currently he is an Angel of Heaven, on God’s side, according to the Yezidis themselves. Not much is written down in their religion, so who knows what the truth is, but I think it is unlikely that they worship Satan or Lucifer.
