Who exactly is Lucifer?

What kind of entity is Lucifer exactly? A fallen angel? A god, or simply a cosmic force? Is Lucifer both a title and an actual entity? Kurtis Joseph even said that Jsus was an incarnation of Lucifer.

I am currently working on connecting with Lucifer, working with him and being able to communicate with him but right now I’m kind of confused about what kind of entity Lucifer actually is.

There are basically two Lucifers:

The only historical Lucifer was a minor Roman god, who was the personification of the planet Venus in its position as the “morning star” ie when it is visible in the sky at sunrise. His mother was said to be Aurora, the personification of the dawn.

The second Lucifer is basically a creation of Christianity and occultism. The one and only mention of the name Lucifer in the Bible is actually a poetic reference to the fall of the King of Babylon. However, through centuries of misinterpretation, and mistranslation, the name Lucifer became mixed up with the concept of Satan (another figure created by Christians), and he became a beautiful, but prideful, angel, who refused to bow down to Man when commanded by God, and thus was cast out of Heaven for disobedience.

Another myth has Lucifer believing that, as he was among the first angels to be created and was thus perfect, he was better than God Himself, and should rule, hence the “war” in Heaven, and the notion of fallen angels.

Either way, Christians had Lucifer/Satan booted from Heaven, along with those angels who followed him, and cast into darkness below the earth, becoming demons and creating “Hell”, because apparently getting too big for his britches somehow meant that he now hated everything and wanted to destroy all of creation :man_shrugging:

Occultists then took this idea of disobedience to God and ran with it, turning Lucifer from a fallen angel into a Promethean figure, only interested in the evolution and emancipation of mankind from the tyrannical Christian god, rather than someone looking to corrupt and destroy everything. Some have even gone so far as to elevate Lucifer to the rank of Supreme Being of the Universe.

Honestly, though, since humans are creator beings ourselves, and context is huge when dealing with any spirit, Lucifer is basically whatever you want him to be. Historically, he has gone from a god in the Roman pantheon that was so minor that he didn’t even have any stories associated with him, to a prideful, rebellious angel and Emperor of Hell in a later religion, to a cosmic force and God of Everything in still another religion.

Just work with him, and make your own decision as to “who” he is.
