I have created this discussion to ask a question, what is a witch doctor. I haven’t seen much about them on the forum and in real life and much of what they do is mysterious to me. I used to live in Mississippi and there were many witch doctors there. I was born in a Christian family so I never got to conversate with them. I recently remembered that witch doctors are a thing in my English class, where the teacher had a voodoo doll that was blessed and sold to her by a witch doctor. To any people that know any voodoo, hoodoo, or work as a witch doctor, are there any tips or spells that I could work on to try and become one myself. The ways of voodoo, hoodoo, and the witch doctor have always fascinated me. I appreciate all the support and help. Thank you all in advance and I hope that you all have an amazing day.

The term originated so far as I can recall in the British colonies of Africa as a catch-all for the master level tribal healers in those regions.
Later as you’ve already mentioned the term was co-opted by voodoo houngans, some of whom now self-style as “witch doctors”

As an added note: Are there any simple voodoo or hoodoo spells or rituals to start me off in this field. I recently learned how to create a voodoo doll but if I ever make one I will rarely use it because of the ramifications of what I may wish. Are there any spells that I could try that do not require a voodoo doll, just to try and practice my spellcasting?
