Tuyul / Toyul

Tuyul or Toyul is said to be a child like creature from the javanese tradition. it is said to be spirit of the undead/ stillborn child or a spirit who wants to be treated as a child. practitioner usually keep them to cause mischief including theft and menial work. the dwarf like creature is said to be bound to the one who evoked it and stays in the family even after the demise if its master and cause havoc since it needs feeding and treated a certain way.

has anybody here has any experience with similar entity? there is very little on the internet on this. this seems to be more on the south asian folklore but thats about it.

few different names i found for it are :
liliput in indian folklore
tuyul in javanese/ indonesian folklore
gui zai (ghost child) in chinese
khyak in nepalese and bhutanese folklore

There’s something similar in some black magick in Haitian Vodou that do use some unborn human fetus, but it’s more on the Petwo Nation that envolve more about that kind of stuff. So it seems as a pattern in other religions and Magickal systems about lost spirits of children or babies to search parenting and to help or curse according to their mood.

Is there an article or any links U can share ?

About Haitian Vodou there isn’t, since this religion is already so misinterpreted that doing so would only reinforce that Vodou is just black magic, which is far from reality, despite these types of practices actually existing. Another case of the use of human fetuses is in Egypt and Rome where there were incidences of magic that used them.
Use of fetus in Roman and Egypt magick
There’s also this UPG about the use of these things, as I said, in black magick. It’s from a Quimbanda Priestess from my country named Avinash, she said that an ancestor spirit from Haiti (context: In Quimbanda there’s a big emphasis to honor your ancestors) from a very old lineage of her family, and just now with her that this Mambo/Voudou Priestesse had the chance to talk with her about her lineage/past self. Take it with a grain of salt because it’s UPG, but it’s still significant anyway.

The video is in Portuguese, but try to turn on the subtitles and the auto translation to your language.

but do these entities can only be created/ conjured via a fetus ?

It’s because they’re the spirits of the dead infant, that’s why you need the body of the dead. It’s common in necromancy to use the body parts of the dead, but it’s more used in more traditional countries like Haiti, Thailand…
