Tips on evoking a demon? (goetia)

i have searched on search bar before but people kept saying lit candle, trance, meditating sigil, enn calling(?), converse, license of depart

how does one enter trance state? cant i just meditate on sigils and arent they the same (i.e entering trance state thru meditation)? and do you suggest meditating with eyes open like gazing thru the seal? or its better with eyes closed and have the imagery of the demon? because i dont have white wall infront of me and it might be harder. i also dont follow EA bc i dont have circle of power and due to limited source in my country so maybe i will do simple banishing. And do i have to say word of authority too? i kept seeing mixed procedure and i wish there is like a beginner guide, but some of it are extremely vague for me to follow and i end up not doing it because theres a lot of incositency as in meditation with eyes open/closed, trance state etc. i have already seen people experience in this forum and i wish to seek for advice for novice like me! thanks in advance

Hey All, There are a lot of new magicians coming onto the forum, and I’ve noticed that some seem to be confused about the trance state required for magick so I thought I’d do a little info drop to help. We talk a lot about the Theta/Gamma Sync here, but I think it is important to point out that Theta is not necessary for most magick. All you really need is an Alpha state, which is fairly simple to achieve. A state as deep as Theta is only necessary for the full physical manifestation of spirits, or what is known as evocation. A simple rundown of the various brainwave states: Beta - this is your every day waking consciousness. Alpha - this is what is commonly called “deep relaxation” and is something that most people enter naturally when they watch TV or “zone out.” Theta - is a deep trance state and you pass through it every night as you fall asleep and again as you wake up. It is also called the hynogogic state or the “mind-awake, body-asleep” state. Delta - is the sleep state. If you are interested in the science of brainwaves and the exact HZ of each state, there is plenty of information available on the web but it is unnecessary for our purposes here. We all slide between Beta and Alpha all the time during the day, but what we need to learn for magick is how to consciously control it so we can use the state at will. As you gaze, you can chant a demonic enn if the spirit has one, you can chant a conjuration to appearance like EA’s Conjuration of Any Spirit, or you can simply repeat, “Spirit, come.”

When the seal opens (there will either be some visual phenomena like the lines of the seal fading in and out or popping off the paper or you might just feel a magnetic pull), state your purpose in calling.

If you are evoking to physical appearance, once the seal is open, transfer your gaze to your manifestation base and call the spirit forth to take form within it. If you are performing seal magick instead of full evocation, then after stating your purpose, fold the seal in half and carry it with you until you get your result. Then burn it.

this is really helpful thank u so much. also i dont have any request or petition as of now, i was just wondering if i can work together with them, as i was approached in my dream. should i hold it off until i have urgency?

You should always have a reason before calling a spirit, whether that is a physical result or specific knowledge. If you try to summon a spirit just to see if they will show up, you’ll be disappointed.

Edit to add: You can’t be wishy-washy when you summon a spirit. You need to be firm in your intention and will.
