If people never syncretised or experimented, we’d have no vodou, and probably the Hermetic traditions wouldn’t have developed as they did since they were also a mish-mash of establisehd traditions from Egypt, Greece, even the ideas floating about that later led to the dawn of Xianity, so while I respect traditions that are practiced in their own right I think experimentation and mixing things up is both valid and has yielded some great results for people in the past.
JMO there but I feel like it’s worthwhile endeavour, provided you can handle setbacks of the “reinventing the wheel” variety several times over.
