Yes, rare artisan books do sell for that much. And the occult is a genre that rich, professional, international book collectors find particularly delicious.
(My suspicion is that some of the wealthiest and most die hard collectors work for the Vatican and royal families, and are acquiring for their private libraries. That’s just a speculation though.)
