So I was originally gonna do a classic 4 card spread with the top card being the main message and the bottom 3 cards (in no particular order) being the details, supporting messages to the top card. When shuffling and choosing my cards, a 5th clung to the four I had pulled so I felt that I should include that too. I placed that one to the “side” as I’m not really sure what role it plays in the reading. I included my interpretation of it below.
The question was “does ____ (name) want a relationship with me”
The top card was the Empress reversed. I seem to get alot of reversed cards when doing readings with this deck btw. I think it’s like a hardcore “tough love” type of deck. Lol. This card didn’t feel overly negative despite the status of being reversed. Perhaps I need to take on the qualities of the card? This card felt more feminine to me and emotional. So maybe I need to work on those aspects.
The bottom 3 cards were 9 of cups (R), Daughter of Swords, and 4 of wands (R). The 9 of cups and 4 of wands was disheartening to see in a reversed position. I definitely feel a negative reaction. The message I got, and especially from the 4 of wands was something is blocked for me? The sticks in the picture appear to be blocking the way forward (atleast to me, visually) so I felt that this was an important message. The daughter of swords perhaps tells me that I need to take action.
Then the extra card the son of cups. I think this one pertains to the person I was talking about. Perhaps what they have to offer me as well as what I need to work on. Emotions And introspection. Which I felt I was working on. I’m a thinker, by nature. Although I tend to overthink and over analyze. So…
Apologies for the picture being sideways. The empress should be in top so might have to orientate your screen that way to see. I’m on mobile.
I don’t claim to be an expert on tarot reading so I’ll give this my best crack, as I had to translate a few of these cards into standard tarot cards to better understand (thank the GoldenThread tarot app for the help)!
The Empress reversed seems to tell that, though you’re excited and hopeful for a relationship, that energy may come across slightly smothering or a little strong.
The 4 of wands rx and 9 of cups rx to me says that due to possible lack of communication or conflict either in your life or their life, or just a simple disconnect may be keeping said possible relationship just out of reach for now.
For the daughter of swords (I’m pretty sure this is your energy in the spread), such a disconnect may be making you restless, however you have the know how and willingness to work through whatever needs to be worked on. The son of cups seems like a very good sign.
The overall vibe I get from this (between being an amateur tarot reader and somewhat experienced adult human being) is that if you let yourself relax and enjoy the journey (getting to know each other and date a bit) rather than fixating on the destination (a relationship), there may be some real potential for a relationship here. I think if you let him chase you, more than you chase him, the likelihood of him wanting one with you will increase tremendously.
Again, I’m an amateur so take it with a grain of salt!

Where does it say to let them chase me? Or is that just an personal impression? The rest of the reading resonates though.
It’s my way of addressing the Empress’s energy in this spread, and speaks to the “knowing what needs to get done” aspect of the daughter of swords so a little from column A, a little from column B.

For more specificity: as a way to offset the potential “coming on too strong” energy of the Empress, the daughter of swords knows that giving him space to come to you is a great way to do that.

That makes more sense. Thanks!
