I never worked with the planetary energies/spirits of Saturn or anything Saturnian in general before so I decided to read about it beforehand and all I read is “ Doom and Gloom ” and a lot of fearmongering, from what I understand every plant has it’s good and bad sides but people seem to emphasize on the bad aspects of Saturn more than its good aspects like discipline so I wonder if anybody here has positive experiences regarding working with this type of energies
Saturn gets a bad wrap and sometimes it’s very understandable but Saturn is like the great grandfather of all the planets. Saturn isn’t good or evil, it forces one into the confrontation of stuff most people don’t want to face. Mostly saturnian energy has often been misrepresented to be malicious rather it’s best described as “unnerving” or “uncomfortable”.
This is kind of the whole point of Saturn though, it represents limitation and therefore can be unyielding as you accurately have pointed out Saturn relates to discipline. Discipline is uncomfortable, besides the other principles related to Saturn are alternative facets of limitation. For example time and death, other facets represented by Saturn is what is known as “decay” or what i best would refer to as “deconstruction” and things need to be deconstructed in order to be reconstructed.
These aren’t negatives it’s a matter of perception really, now if someone uprooted and “deconstructed” good things in your life then sure you’ll take that negatively. If you however used Saturn to “deconstruct” negative parts of yourself or negative/unwanted parts of your life then that very same force becomes a positive. Saturn also teaches the importance of consequences, not in the old fashioned misinterpreted west “karmic reprocussion”.
Consequences in a sense is the very essence of the law of causality, it’s a mundane and metaphysical reality. Cause and effect, one thing effects another and there is a domino effect. Some view the teaching of Saturns principle of “consequences” as a punishment but this couldn’t be further from the truth, rather it’s structure.
Don’t forget Saturn is heavily tied into the shadow of oneself, hence why many occultists associated it with the darkness. In terms of shadow work then, Saturn can bring isolation, harsh self-awareness, responsibility, loss of identity/ego. These when not prepared or unconscious can feel like an unravelling but if consciously wielded for shadow work it’s a catalyst for confronting the shadow, integration and then overall transfiguration. Therefore once again a matter of perspective and context.
What is often not spoke about is Saturn also governs other things, but these things aren’t simply given as other planetary bodies rather they must be earned through Saturn. These things include authority, mastery, endurance, inner strength, wisdom, yet these are earned through the transformative and sometimes painful journey. Just like a Qlipha found upon the backward tree of the Qliphoth the transformation, the empowerment or blessing of each qlipha, you can only reap the reward once you have endured it’s flames or thorns.
Most people I’ve actually seen complain about Saturn and I’m going to be brutally honest here, their lazy. You see one thing Saturn is against and is an antithesis of laziness, delusion, and many people who lie to themselves or have some sort of twisted subjective perspective that either is that of victimhood or a form of validating their own shortcomings and failure, Saturn will obliterate that, just like it will teach the harsh lessons to those who are undisciplined.
Saturn is very much the old fashion planetary grand dad who tells you to pull up your boot straps, get to work and stop moaning. Afterall the sun rises whether your down or not, the world keeps turning and life goes on without you. It reinforces the harsh realities of life not to break you down or depress you it’s essentially tough love from your cosmological great-grandfather.
So let’s focus on those positives shall we, Saturn strengthens willpower, self discipline, protection through boundaries, authority and respect, shadow work, initiation into higher magickal workings as Saturn is the initiator. Saturn like anything is a working relationship, however it’s trade of most people find uncomfortable to pay it.
For example,
You give Saturn your time, consistency, honesty and effort with no bullshit, no laziness and no facade. In return you get enduring power, inner authority, stability and freedom from illusion.
Now let’s touch on something important for a moment because this is often misunderstood or oversimplified.
Saturn’s relation to the darker arts.
Saturn is heavily linked and used in baneful magick, vampirism and necromancy. So let’s break it down shall we, first let’s start with the obvious.
Saturn = Death : Necromancy - The most obvious one is necromancy or death magick, being the literal current of death is related of course to the planet that is death but also decay. This connection is obvious but due to often misunderstanding with this path, or edgy idiots making it sound creepy it gets a bad wrap.
Saturn = Destruction : Baneful Magick - Now this one needs to be broken down a little, the two major planets usually associated the most, to baneful magick is both Saturn and Mars. Mars is the planet associated to war, combat, destruction and pretty much rage. This is a emotional and intense form of baneful magick. The baneful magick of Saturn however it is destructive but mostly in a odd cold and detached clinical fashion. Think about it the seal of the saturnian seal of destruction is very well known, you can wield forces of removal, restriction and severing as well forcing consequences.
So you can remove all that is good, you can sever them from things and this can be done creatively. Severing from them all that they hold dear whether relationships, jobs, health, finances, love, possessions etc. Saturn is also known to be a planet for binding, sometimes this is wielded with Mars that has more attack and offensive penetrative energies and then Saturn dooms the target binding them keeping them within it.
Saturn = Vampiric Structure - Vampirism.
Most psychic or energetic vampires are sometimes ones that do it unconsciously not all of them of course. The unconscious ones are due to energetic leakages, poor energy circulation and other plethoras of problems. People immediately assume “vampirism edgy dark and cool” and attribute it misunderstandings of Saturn which is ridiculous. Saturn embodies facets of vampirism whether intentional or unintentional. If Saturn rules scarcity through its symbolism of entropy and finite resources, then Saturn highlights these energetic principles of low energy, poor energy boundaries and circulation, saturnian vampirism is more cold and detached than your regular vampirism.
Therefore it is not related to certain forms of vampirism such as emotional vampirism, sexual vampirism or psychic attacks. Saturnian vampirism then manifests as a prolonged energy drain, authority based and willpowered vampirism which is necessary for breaking through to targets, a good thing about Saturnian vampirism too is that it doesn’t create dependency on it as most people either get addicted or use vampirism as a crutch which then becomes a weakness.
Now let’s address another important factor.
Saturnian Limitations.
These aren’t chains their realities certain limitations in our physical world for example cannot be broken. Whilst we can do various things almost instantly in the energetic planes, the physical world is finite and is bound by limits. As are we as physical beings inside of it, now let’s address this, one it teaches common sense some limits you ain’t going to surpass and that’s reality. However I want to say that Saturn doesn’t just impose limits and say…
“See that’s it too bad.”
Sometimes limitations presented by Saturn are circumstantial restrictions and personal limitations but it doesn’t present it merely to highlight these things rather it shows you that these limitations can actually be removed and transcended through the work, this work is magickal and mundane of course.
Saturnian Banishing.
For a planet that gets a bad wrap for being so called “restrictive” in a negative way. It surely is damn liberating and transformative and yet it’s also connected to a very occult principle that is used to rid ourselves of obstacles, blockages, instability, negativity. toxicity and that my friend is banishing. Through Saturn we banish, through the sun we cleanse and purity. This is alchemical too, relating the planetary bodies to certain alchemical transmutative energies. The essence or element related to Saturn in alchemy is what’s known as “Nigredo”.
As a matter of fact without nigredo, the entire alchemical work fails. Nigredo is the “blackening” the stage of the lux corporalis, or the solar light or the luciferian light, or the “gold” in alchemy. It depends upon the alchemical system but this can be used for anti-transmigration of spirit into matter or the physical. Simultaneously nigredo is responsible for the fundamental necessity for transmutation, transmogrification and transfiguration. Nigredo is used for putrefacation, dissolution, return to prima materia, Saturn therefore is associated to the material of lead in alchemy. Lead is not bad it’s untapped potential, many try to jump straight to “albedo” which is illumination or “rubedo” which is power, none of these are possible without nigredo.
Saturn then as you can see is either overlooked, misunderstood, seen as bad from certain perspective or context. The essence of Saturn is what you make of it.
C.Kendall already extensively described Saturn and its properities, but is is worthy to add that Saturn as the planet that in traditional astrology is the most outside one, represent material cosmic forces that are the closest ones to the spiritual realm and thus its feature is being the gate where spiritual forces get their form to manifest in our reality. I is represented for example in triangle of art, used to evoke and bind spirits in specific location - number three and triangle are one of the symbols of Saturn
Thank you brothers for this valuable information

Bookmarked and going to make notes from this post in my notebook.
Thank you Mister Kendall!!!
Saturn is the one force that can make someone truly successful in life. Look at Jupiter for example. You might think Jupiter is the one that’ll give success and wealth since it’s related to expansion but expansion alone can be terrible. An analogy is that if the cells in your body kept expanding you would get cancer. You need the limiting and restricting force of Saturn to balance things out. You can’t have one without the other, one is just a lot easier to like because he isn’t so disillusioning and sobering.
While Jupiter is a very optimistic energy, Saturn is very somber and sobering. It will restrict and limit you so that you can build proper foundations in life. It is also directly associated with the most important currency we all have which is time. He knows the clock is ticking and is more aware of this than anyone. He is associated with karma because he is responsible for long-term consequences and outcomes, he knows that the things you do now will affect you in the far-future that you may not be looking ahead to. That is why his force is one of such a sobering nature. It is forcing you to struggle so that you can build a greater future and not just waste your time.
One of the biggest things that will waste your time is lying to yourself and we all do this to some degree. Accepting this and seriously picking things apart and realising where we lie to ourselves and why can be very painful, but allows you to help yourself far better in the short term and long term. This is why his energy can be so disillusioning.
You may have a huge goal that you wish to achieve in a few months or a very short amount of time, but keep feeling obstructions due to his influence and feel unable to reach it as well as rightfully annoyed but later in the future, you will probably end up realising that these obstructions allowed you to develop such that it paved the way for something much better and much more significant for you in the future. It’s important to understand that the weights Saturn forces on your shoulders grow and prepare you so that if in the future you experience that type of weight, you’re able to keep walking without your knees buckling.
I evoked him over a year ago, asking for personal life advice, here’s what I received from him:
”Countless empires have been lost and gained, with all but ash and bones remaining. You will die too just like everyone else, what you have built will become ashes in sand and forgotten by all, but it does not need to be the end like it was for many of those egotistical. Those who lived to be seen, died the moment their body did, even if their spirit lived on. Take care of your mind, focus not on distractions but the empire that is You. Not a business, not even your body, but You. Your whims are not you. Your bad habits are not you. Your laziness is not you. All of these are part of you but they are not you. Look beyond them all and see yourself bare with nothing, that is you. Find what it is that helps you build up and revere that being, be harsh but understanding and gentle when need be. Do not lose yourself in the pursuit of others or their approvals. Everyone’s empire has always been them, they came here to learn, pursuing goals, desires and whims was not their crime, but losing themselves always has been. Be better than them, not of ego but of wisdom. Everyone has the darkness within them that must be fed and accepted, and the same for the light, you can’t reject these parts of yourself, but both are overlays and masks, neither are who they are. Learn to integrate yourself more for the sake of yourself and you will be successful, even if you do not feel it yet. It will not be comfortable, but you will do well, here and after. For as long as you are within time until you are out of my grasp, and even then, make sure that you operate from within yourself.”
I will say that since that evocation, my life has changed a lot.
I wonder, if it’s possible to use Saturn to banish things like poverty.
There was a video on YouTube about this topic but I didn’t watch since I got bored 5 minutes in lol
here it is:
I have been thinking strongly about what charge to give Saturn, every day of the week in it’s earliest hour, to structure a better aspect of the qualities of that day.
Now if I can get myself up in the wheelchair and create enough room to do a 360 in it, I can do the Greater Ritual of the Hexagram on it, invoke Saturn, then evoke the Days planet in it’s Hour for that Day.
Poverty, today for example, maybe in the later hour and the Sun represents a day of expansion, healing and abundance to a greater degree than Jupiter (Thursday); Sunday is the best of the aspects.
Except for banishing poverty. Saturn does rule on that, maybe structuring a strong foundation of practice which eliminates poverty.
Each person experiences and processes energy differently. Not everything is meant for everyone, just as we don’t all click with one another.
Saturn, his energy and his entities are not something to play with. Saturn rules transformation. Even the transformations you didn’t know you needed.
And transformation, no matter how necessary or beautiful it may be, rarely arrives peacefully.
When something is no longer working, it must be dismantled so something else can take its place.
What falls apart does so suddenly, loudly, and unavoidably.
What is being built afterward takes time, effort, patience, and investment.
You don’t wake up the day after the collapse and immediately begin a brand new life.
Not everyone has the capacity or the readiness to endure the pain that true transformation demands.
How you experience it depends on you, and you alone.
Some bleed and remain stuck in the breaking. They see it as punishment.
Others surrender to it, walk through the fire, and emerge changed. They see it as a lesson.
To me, Saturn is a deeply loving father figure.
Not the kind of love that comforts you, but the kind of love that shapes you through pressure, discipline, and truth, until what remains can no longer collapse ever again.
What you said brought up two cards for Saturn and Mars, XV The Devil and XVI The Tower. In my opinion, Capricorn should be The World, and Saturn XV The Devil.
XV The Devil holds man and woman in chains, while punishing the man’s tail with fire, lighting a fire under his butt, while the woman is giving him an earful.
XVI breaks down to reconstruct, no matter the cost to the old selves. Such as the two people thrown to the wind while the lightning is destroying the tower, toppling the roof off in the process.
In Tarot analogy, that would be:
The Tower (XVI - Scorpio and Aries - Mars energy) breaking down to 1+6 = 7 = Chariot (the force which it comes with hinting also the future choice you will have to take, but its not there yet) →
The Devil (XV - Saturn energy) which breaks down to 1+5 = 6 = The Lovers (the choice it self) →
Death (XIII - Scorpio (transformation) + Mars) which leads to… →
1+3 = 4 = Emperor (Aries + Mars or Capricorn in some systems + Saturn) aka Power, structure, discipline, order. The end goal. The result.
Also, I have feling that Saturn is linked somehow with hindu God Shiva, he is a god of transformation and destruction, also a yogi - things that, for me, corresponds with Saturn
