I bought one of her Demonolotry books off Ebay and all I can say is whatever book of hers you buy, be sure the Sigils are within its pages.
Those without illustrations are a great dissapointment and are not useful in my work and itās hard to imagine it would be handy for anyone else actually involved in spiritual work at hand.
I keep the tome I have out of respect for it being a signed copy, and I intend on acquiring a complete illustrated and signed volume as soon as I am fortunate enough to do so.
Honoring Death and Keys of Ocat are excellent.

Last year a cop got killed near my house. Hit by a car and he was a bike cop, do the souls of the dead linger in the spots where they died?
The sometimes do if they:

donāt know theyāre dead - that sounds silly but people keep being aware, so itās not immediately obvious to them, and MOST lose all higher levels of thought, so time makes no sense to them and everythingās muddled up;

they died with such immense regrets or desires that they donāt let go, so become anchored to the location;

they died in extreme pain, fear, or despair, and are literally unable to move past that - kind of like spiritual PTSD flashbacks.
In all cases, psychopomp spirits exist who can heal and guide the soul, and also some humans do psychopomp work and can help.
People left in that situation too long will start to fragment or go crazy, and become malevolent or make anyone in the vicinity feel an echo of their own pain and horror.

Yes, I would say you pretty much nailed all three aspects of lingering spirits. The man that taught me about various aspects of Vodoun years ago had loads of knowledge on this subject. I learnt about āDarklingsā from him. These are spirits of deceased people or animals which were slowly tortured to death!!
These poor souls appear to become trapped through the pain and suffering they went through in their last moments. This man told me that we can evoke these spirits and release their anguish and torment in various ways and in return, they will give us whatever we ask for as payment.
These trapped souls or Darklings as he referred to them work even better when they are slowly tortured over many days as this builds up immense bio electrical energy through pain and suffering. This energy appears to be either used by black magicians or Houngans through various Petro Loaās from Haiti as the person is either still alive, or released as enslaved power through death. He told me that these Darklings have immense power as they can attract other forces and acting as intermediaries, they can grant us requests for their freedom.
So I hope this helps your understanding Globolitz of lingering spirits as Eva got it spot on, I just thought I would add to this as it reminded me of using these dead souls as entities to help us.
* just to add to this here, theres far better ways (and safer) to obtain our desires. Iām just giving a reflection here of dark magical acts which usually remain in the shadows due to their vile conduct and irresponsible nature, My advise would be to understand their structure as this can be used in more positive ways to make us better magicians without the spiritual crimes these acts produce.

And their ancerstors, descendents, and (in the case of animals) species oversoul and guardians will be waiting most eagerly for the houngan who tries this, and in the meantime be busily afflicting his family, his community, and anything else they can, since their loved one is being treated in this way.

The work of releasing these souls (provided of course that you havenāt been the one responsible for their demise) grants enormous power, favour, and knowledge, and part of that comes from the higher spiritual court of the person involved.
Iāve actually released people who were killed in a ritualistic manner (two children, boys, and a young woman), and one act of mercy from a human (plus a bit of astral force, judiciously applied) undoes the lock on them, and unleashes a can of whup-ass in the person who enslaved them.
Thereās no such thing anywhere as a normal person, and even animals have this kind of protection, so itās probably not the best way to try and acquire powerā¦ the loanās fun when youāre spending it, but the interest rates runs very high indeed when the bill comes due.
