Regarding Elder Scrolls

I don’t mind. You can do whatever you want :+1:

Alright, well I’m going to throw some things together and get some resources together and then once my internet works properly I’ll use my computer to easily put out larger post on things for quick reference and all. It is hell to do on phone though.

Okydoky

I thought about that. For example concerning spells, one may indeed cool or heat herself or objects/people with ice and fire magic; create temporary servitors in the form of skeletons… and so on.

I got reminded of the dragon shouts while reading through this. The one for Become Ethereal is “Feim Zii Gron”. I put on some Binurals and chanted it while meditating.

If someone’s feeling adventurous, try this out and let me know if anything happens. We can compare notes later.

If something happens then I hope people won’t get the idea of using the call storm shout.

If mods would effect the lore of the game than would your pathworking through the elder scrolls be different?

Depends if you wish to include the mods in that case see Flash tv series for example of multiple earths and timelines. Each different dimension/ timeline outside default Elder Scrolls just includes mods. Works best for really good well thought out mods with a lot of effort put in.

Never thought of that. That would be vert useful. You could make your own mods and include those in your pathworking.

Does evoking Akatosh count?

What’s interesting is that if you dig into the lore of how magic actually works there, it does bare some similarities with reality, just not in how flashy it is.

First thing to realize though is that the magic in the games is nurfed to hell. In the earlier games it followed the DnD model (linear warrior, quadratic wizard), but later on they wanted to give equal chance to all players so they balanced it. However the lore still reflects the reality that magic is easily the most powerful in that setting.

The way magic works there is that people draw the power from their souls and then use it to warp reality. The way they do this is effectively through self-hypnosis or gnosis. For instance, alteration is done by tricking the world into thinking that something is different, illusion by tricking minds into the same. One of the side-effects of this, since the Elder Scrolls universe is canonically an illusion created by the god-head, is that by gaining too much power people can come to understand their true insignificance and accidentally erase themselves from existence.

In terms of evocation, I fail to see a true distinction between the daedra and aedra. They are effectively the same in origin, except that one slaved themselves to embody the earth-bones and the other did not. So all the stuff about how the daedra are ineffable is equally true for the aedra, except that the aedra clearly have an agenda while the daedra mostly just seem to want to be amused.

I kinda want to cast a spell to make TESIV come out faster, and for it to not be shit

You can evoke any fictional character

Well said.

TESIV? I’ve never heard that before.

Talos actually if I remember was mantling the god of the ancient nords-Shor and thus became Shor under the name of Talos

I’ve never heard of that. I’ll have to look into it

sorry, I meant VI (roman numerals, Elderscrolls 6)

Wouldn’t that be considered elder scrolls online(eso)

ESO isn’t cannon. It’s not even made by the same company, half the stuff they added is so out of line with the entire setting that they would have to rewrite everything just to make it fit. Like the Bosmer all being shoggoths, and all animals being the descendants, despite the fact that all the Mer are effectively fallen-angels in the lore.
