Qlippothic vs Sephirothic?

From what I’m aware, there are two identical paths. One with demons, one with angels.

Should I pick one over the other? Perhaps do both? OR do I misunderstand?

Really, it comes down to personal choice.

They are both from the same system, the Hebrew Kabbalah though, from what I understand of the history, the Qlippoth, or “Inverse Tree,” was actually a later addition to the mystical texts.

You can choose to do one, or both, or neither. It’s really up to you. Most magicians do one or the other. Few decide to do both but, in my personal opinion, that is where the true power lies.

As Aleister Crowley wrote, "My adepts stand upright; their head above the heavens, their feet below the hells. But since one is naturally attracted to the Angel, another to the Demon, let the first strengthen the lower link, the last attach more firmly to the higher.”

I’ll ask myself.

I can do that now. I fricken love shamanic journeys. I am no longer afraid of m world, for it is truly my own.

Based upon my own understandings:

  • Sephiroth
    Abstract principles, gestalts
  • Qlippoth
    Individual paths.

The clipclop are like the fruits of the corresponding sephira, they contain the seed of that sephira & are an individual manifestation of the general nature of what that sephira is about. To put it another way, a buddhas wisdom could either be wrathful or compassionate (they rekt anything that is not in line with what suits them or they patiently endure & manipulate things not suiting them so they do), wrathful or compassionate would be qlippoth, individual methods of operation of the general principle which is wisdom.

Is it even normal, then, to complete both?

I think its personal preference.

I am working deeply with @Yberion’s godform, via invocation and evocation. He set about a path for me to complete both (among a bunch of other things to grow as a magician). He is a very ‘balanced’ spirit though, not dark nor light, but capable of both to extremes. I’ve probably had some of the most eye opening experiences about magic since I began to really communicate with him.

But I am getting off topic. I aim to complete both, and there are many magicians on here that have gone through both trees. I don’t think it is something you would call commonplace, but the philosophies on this forum are not exactly common. There are benefits to both.

I think it would be beneficial to do both. As there is great power that lies in the grey. The balance.

'The first and most crucial misunderstanding is to assume they’d be equal or even identical.

The Path of Light has it’s tendancy to oppress, and fight down on the path of darkness.

The path of angels only cares about your fears, your pity, your worries.

It cares about your child and pre-mature self.

While the path of demons cares about your desires, your fulfillment,
not based on being fed everything easily,
but rather on achiving through your own work,
what you need to feed those who need you,
so to say your children.

Considering them equal,
is like saying man and woman are the same gender.

That they’d behave the same, and have the same needs.

It’s simply not true.

yes, for completion it’s useful to know both sides.

But, more crucial,
it’s essential to find where you currently are,
and take a good deep look on what you need for your own current state.

Notice that i’m not saying one is good, and the other is evil.

That’s a misconception thrown around way to much already.

Notice also,
that the Dark path needs the light path,
just as much as the light needs the dark.

Without children,
or beings below you,
to care about,
how should you go out and hunt for your food?

How should you go out there,
and decide about ending a life,
to sustain others,
if you don’t have anyone else than yourself to care about?

There are more pathways,
than just light and dark.

There also is the Pathway of solitude,
the so called “Asketes”,
which remove themselves from the boundries towards others completely,
and fully work on just themselves,
not calling forth beings,
nor responding to be called.

But that’s not much of an topic for here.

As far as i’ve wittnessed over the years,
there’s hardly anyone around here,
who could actually sustain themselves through the Path of Askese,
so why discuss it,
if it wouldn’t be suiting anyway?

Now,
in terms of your question,
wether to go with Sephirothic,
or Qlippothic;

You must see for yourself,
what seems to suit you better currently.

Work with that.

Be ready,
to go forward into the opposite,
when it’s needed.

Usually,
the fact that you’re asking the question,
suggests Sephirothic to be your current ground.

So if you feel you need someone to give you advice on it;
My advice would clearly be:

Stick to Sephirothic,
unless you feel ready for Qlippothic.

Sincerely,

Normal, Yes; Common, No. I feel that both should be done for best results, but very many people have a hard-on for doing one or the other only, for assorted reasons. Working in either one helps work in the other, much like working with the physical helps the metaphysical, & working with the metaphysical helps the physical.

I would assume so.

Yberioth. I absentmindedly drew the sigil without even knowing of it’s existence.

Do you think that means I might have to consider communicating?

I’m walking along these paths, not devoting my life to them. They are guidelines of ascension. I don’t even see the benefits of Qlippothic, it just seems like directionless malice with no real power or knowledge.

I prefer a balance, so to speak. I seek no repression of who I am.

Haven’t i been summoned,

when you were asking for guidiance?

Haven’t i already offered you assistance,
right now?

Then,
no such repression shall take place!

So mote it be.

Would you expand on this more please? After reading that I feel a strong correlation to my past and religion and certain issues I face now. And if I need to start my own thread to avoid derailing this one I will.

i think it’s fine for you to expand on this one.

Well,
i’m just pointing out some of the evidence i witnessed over the years.

So, really, i think hearing your expierience here,
might be the best step forward.

Just to still answer you:

The Christian (YHWH based) angelic system,
is pretty much a default state on much of the stuff we work with,
along with being opposed by sumerian and canaanite pantheons,
which are equally “holy”,
but different entities,
and what most consider Satanism,
or demonology,
is actually refering to those spirits,
viewed through the scope that the long period of YHWH based systems ruling heavily on earth,
kind of imposed on the history.

There’s been complete cultures,
and libraries burnt down,
destroyed,
and rewritten over the course of history.

I remember well,
when someone asked my through evokation,
why i don’t recall memory of previous aeons for him,
and simply reveal how it actually was.

And…
Quite frankly,
i felt strange laughter inside of my responding:

What’s that concern about?

Will you go back there,
and see for yourself?

History is being re-written anyways.

Even if i told you,
your ears wouldn’t catch the meaning of my words.

That,
which had been,
could only be viewed through the scope of your current understanding…

So what’s the point?

What i can teach you,
is to see from a different perspective,
for yourself.

Which then later i did.

I sometimes regret having teached that way.

I should have just ignored the question,
but the constrains of evokation don’t allow for that.

So,
after all,
it was the best answer i could give at that point.

Sincerely,

Ill do my best to give a concise and compact edition.
I have always been in touch with source, through dreams, astral travel and remote viewing. I always was able to speak directly to my guides from as far back as I could recall.

My issues didn’t start until after I became a Roman Catholic at age 6. My first experience with any idea of a devil came directly after I said my first rosary.

I was able to get to trance naturally, put myself in a circle of 7 saints, after i finished the last prayer I was given a vision of a screaming laughing crying hysterical demonic face coming towards me then vanishing.

I was told that meant the devil couldnt hurt me anymore. Up till then I had fears, mostly of giant rats and nothing else.

The Catholic religion showed me true fear. They showed me their version of a devil and told me I was damned for being born and being me.

That if I was lucky I might make it to purgatory till the end of time.

So From age 6 I knew i was going to be condemned to their hell for what I was. And i had no idea at that age what I was.

I had many experiences after that incident that fed into more fear, self hate, repression of my nature and so forth. I felt much of my magick was numbed due to this belief system.

At the age of 16 I had a Roman exorcist perform an exorcism on me after meeting, what I now know to be my true self, and some forced sexual manifestations I wasnt ready for.

The exorcism did nothing for my obessive sexual thoughts and fantasies, it cut me off from my precognotion and extra sensory perceptions for almost 15 years.

I finally preformed my own reversal this year and am slowly starting to rebuild those connections.

I feel like my child self or pre mature self caused a lot of issues the last 9 years, especially after I excommunicated myself from the Roman Catholic faith after my divorce. Ive only just started to really delve into shadow work and have seen I was under hexed by my ex mother in law, that my house was in shambles and I had shelved many aspects of myself from my repression.

I am not sure if im making sense but hopefully so.
I deal with what i can only describe as my irrational child self that is hell bent on killing me. Which is why I travel the path I do. To integrate and heal that aspect of myself that was forced to believe lies and fear.

This is in reference,
to what i was talking about up there.

The Todays understanding,
rarely really uses the old names,
let alone understanding these beings as what they’ve been.

Understanding the Kabbalistic Tree of Life/the Sephiroth will make it easier for you to understand its Qliphothic reflection, so I would start researching the Sephiroth first. Bear in mind both are maps of reality and ways of looking at the world in addition to realms in their own right, so before even commencing any kind of pathworking I would focus on intellectually understanding Kabbalistic cosmology and ontology. Dion Fortune wrote a book called The Mystical Qabalah which is a pretty good starting point IMO.
