God morning/evening everyone, so basically i have been thinking a lot about the relationship between psychlogy and magick.
I have a theory that dream interpretation and freudian slips might have a divination component. I’m not saying it is completely oneiromancy and divination through these slips, but it might have a component. Divination is basically believing that internal events will tell you symbolically some information, so if you believe in runes/tarot/etc they work for you but dont work when you do not believe in them. Funny that even though my family is very christian they accidentally use a lot of zoomancy, because here in brazil there is a strong folk bellieve that some bird behaviours predicts tragedies and death.
But my main idea is based on ifs or Internal Family Systems, this is a form of therapy that personifies the patient’s sufferings and diffiulties as being “internal beings”, and they are guided to communicate with this parts and even “invoke” these parts. So the patient basically ask their inner anxiety, shyness, depression, procrastination, fear of spirits, etc. to communicate through them and start pretending to be that inner part, and let the part say anything it want or thinks, even if doesnt make sense.
To me it sounds a lot like invocation, obviously it also has its psychological/scientific benefits and explanations, even if the patient does not believe in spiritual invocation. But to me it has a magickal aspect. Important to note that IFS is not a pseudoscience like some forms of “therapy” like “Family Constellations”, it has scientific evidence of working and dont have some dangerous beliefs that Family Constelattios does.
