For me, for example, when I noticed a ghost in my house that was of a former homeowner who was not banished with a basic smudging, I simply told her she could stay as long as she stays out of my way and our of sight, and not to bother anyone living, and she respected that. If she had not I would have attacked and killed her - meaning, forced her to die the 2nd death and move on. She did not want my help as a psychopomp to move on she was happy just hanging out in the astral version of her old home as she fades.
