[Peace Treaty] Community Unity - No More Politics

@Lady_Eva I support the idea of a separated section where one may voice their opinion in the mundane world.

@Timothy I do not support the censorship within the idea of restraining ones voice in politics here on the forum.

Thanks. It seems to me healthier to have a proposed solution (I think, a viable, workable, and practical one) suggested, and then Timothy can respond, if he chooses, regarding whether he wishes to do this, rather than let any more resentment continue to build regarding this.

Throwing in my support to this.:grinning:

i support Lady Eva, i dont see a reason why people cant talk about politics, no legal things can be blamed on magic, and theres Belial, why not just do a group ritual to protect the forum from getting hit with legal issues/spirits helping people stay in power

Thanks.

I didn’t mention this in my first reply on the topic because it was not originated as a referendum on “what to do,” however since there is evidently a lot of strong feeling here, and valued members stating they’re going to leave or feel less at home, I wanted to raise this one final time and see if it would work, for both forum members and owners alike, in a constructive manner. :+1:

I am not political and do not tend to post in political threads.

However, @Timothy, I support the idea of a political-centric subsection of the forum for those who desire it as proposed by @Lady_Eva

I request members do NOT attack each other for views shared openly and honestly in this topic.

I agree with this addition as a solution instead of unlisting. I think squelshing won’t fix any issues there might be.
We as a group can overcome and wouldn’t it be more of a Unity this way?
@Timothy I hope you consider this alternative, coming from someone who has learned much from your forum and is happy here even with all the differences.

I think there is something to that, I’ve noticed it as well. Perhaps people ascending are a little more reasonable than folks whos main aspirations in life are football, pornography, and books about war! and or drugs and alcohol. Now don’t get me wrong these are a few of my favorite things, but many of us have a Faustian outlook. Many here want to be all you can be and therefore have a level of decency that was much more common back before the timeline rift. Ah back when common sense was much more common! I can’t quite put my finger on it but it was definitely after 911 and before 2013. Somewhere in that decade. Any guesses?

I’m a little confused why anyone would need a political forum here in the first place. I wasn’t here for that, and I certainly wouldn’t come here for that. You don’t go to a sushi restaurant and demand a cheeseburger that you could get anywhere, and that’s kind of what all this pushback looks like to me.

I’m still not sure why being asked to take it outside is being conflated with censorship. This isn’t censorship or an attack on anyone’s Constitutional rights. No one’s stopping you from starting your own forum. No one has really demonstrated why banning political discussion in this particular forum is actually curtailing the mission of this forum, other than declaring that politics-is-everything! which really explains nothing.

I didn‘t find my way here for penetrating political insight. I get that in my worldly life. You can have a virtual political debate or political poop-flinging just about anywhere else so long as you have an Internet connection.

The specific issue is the right to form working groups to influence politics (just as work ing groups are sometimes formed for other things), and to have these on the forum so like-minded people may band together and work as a group to achieve a shared goal, not the existence of general political chat and debate in the manner of a current affairs forum.

But political working group threads do also necessitate sharing of links and some element of debate (in the same way a group working for anything will have discussion and analysis) so there is also an element of that.

I support @Lady_Eva idea as well.

So it seems that it devolved into something else. If you have a right to form groups that influence politics, do you also have the right to demand where it is and who will give you the resources to have it, even if it’s against their will? It just seems like you can do the same thing just as easily move it on over somewhere else, and I’m kind of surprised no one has done that yet.

No, it didn’t, the working groups were operating peacefully and without any contention, or flags being raised about them. Members with very different worldviews were also communicating constructively and cooperatively in other topics, a fact I mentioned in my very first reply, and which other members have also observed in this thread.

No-one is demanding anything, and I have already made plans for my own work and working groups. I will restate this:

So it is simply a proposal to see if it would meet the requirements of members who are deeply unhappy with the new rule, and whether it is also something the forum owners will consider.

Whether they consider it or not, my vote is sink or swim by their own merits. They crossed a line in my world. Whether they catch shit or not as a result of their own (shitty) actions is entirely on them at this point. I will not lift a finger to assist them out of the hole they jumped into so readily.

My heart has been weighed. I owe them nothing.

Fair enough @Woodsman81.

I am just trying to be constructive and see what would work for all concerned, and whether the owners feel it would be viable.

But I have seen enough deplatforming and censorship to understand your reaction to anyone embracing it.

I am in favor of this for a couple of reasons. It would solve @Timothy’s concern for one. Secondly, I’ve never much liked the idea of our business being out there for all to see. Do it @Timothy. You know you want to.
