I’m looking to pathwork my way through the elements, though I don’t know of any good grimoires that talk much about the elementals. I remember Evoking Eternity mentioning them, but I’m looking for something more comprehensive. Any reccomendations?
In what sense are you using the term pathworking?
Are you referring to working in vision, like described in books such as Lucifer and the Hidden Demons, where you use imagined achetypal imagery to connect to spiritual entities, or working with a specific group of spirits?
I’m not exactly sure. I want to connect and attune with the various elemental currents to learn and control them.
The best way to do that would be to work directly with the Elemental Kings, Ghob, Paralda, Djinn, and Nichsa, like described in Evoking Eternity.
Evoke a king and learn from them until they’re satisfied you have mastered their element both inside and outside yourself, then move on to the next.
I’m not that big of a fan of EE’s evoking system though as it is too elaborate for my tastes. Drawing giant triangles and circles seems excessive. So I guess I would have to find their sigils and then use some technique to invoke them instead.
You can find their seals on the forum. And you can use any method of evocation you are familiar with.
Evoking Eternity is about as simple as ceremonial magick gets, so if you think that is excessive, I don’t recommend anything detailing the Golden Dawn system because it is way more elaborate
Yeah Ceremonial magick has never been my cup of tea. I’ve admired the Golden Dawn, but their workings go wild. I blame the GOM for spoiling me with simple rituals.
I use the basic system from Evoking Eternity as my go-to, and then add or subtract different things I might want to experiment with. For example, I like trying out different types of banishing in my rituals.
The bare bones, though, is to simply sit in my Universal Circle, light some incense, drop into trance, invoke omnipotence, and summon the spirit.
Simplest method for the elements is just to work with the raw information and patterns of the element and if needed contact or create an entity for further assistance.
Use their sigils and the Etsel Mala Kel chant. Lightweight and tool free.
I know this will sound strange, but I am going to suggest a book that hasn’t been published yet. Elemental Witchcraft by Heron Michelle. It sounds like it’s exactly the kind of thing you are looking for honestly and comes out later this year. It’s a Llewellyn book, but I know Heron and know she’s an extremely competent and accomplished priestess.
I’ll be sure to check that out when it releases then. For now I’ll look through the grimoires I already own and see what I can scrap together.
