Personal perception is something to take into consideration, however some entities are the kind that have no interests other than being malevolent to other beings. Now Zozo has been known to haunt people for kicks but there is a difference between a trickster and a psychopath. Most of these psychopathic entities were once human serial killers or they could just be a nasty tulpa unconsciously created by it’s own victim. Shadow people also seem to not be here to benefit anyone. Then there are astral parasites and all other manner of things you don’t want hanging around.
