As the title says, where did these other sigils originate from and how do we know about them?
I’ll mention three - the sigil of Pazuzu and Azazel and Clauneck are not and never were in The Lesser Key of Solomon.
There are some others I’m sure but can anyone let me know me where to find other sigils and how these particular sigils became known to us in the first place?
A magician at some point channeled them, its a practice that people continue to this day. Hence why VK jehannum sometimes has sigils on his blog that he’s created, which differ but still work (in my experience).
You do know the Lesser Key of Solomon is not the only grimoire, right?
The seal for Claunek, for example, originates in the Grimoire Verum, if I’m not mistaken.
Pazuzu is a storm god in the religion of Mesopotamia, so his seal was most likely made up or “channelled” by someone, because traditionally, gods were invoked through prayer, and idolotry (archaeology has found religious statues of Pazuzu). The practice of using spirit seals is a relatively new one, being only 500 years old or so.
The seal used for Azazel is actually the planetary seal for Saturn from Agrippa, derived from his magick squares. Various magicians since then have channelled/created their own versions.
I’m aware now lol. I was almost hoping you would jump in here and shed some light into this after I tried figuring this out. I had no idea Verum is or was a Grimoire.
EA mentions Azazel and Saturn at times and I wondered why. I either missed the information in his videos or didn’t yet reach the information in his books regarding Saturn.
I’m aware of Pazuzu and his seal but always wondered again just where the seal came from.
Besides the Grimoire Verum, and the Lesser Key, some other grimoires are: the Picatrix, the Sworn Book of Pope Honorius, the Almandel, and the Black Pullet.
Verum is derived from an older manuscript called The Universal Treatise of the Keys of Solomon. It’s the oldest source for these spirits that I have found.
