[Newbies] Free books and resources

Hi all.

This thread will serve as a compendium of free resources for newbies just starting out. Primarily, I will be linking to external repositories of grimmoires and such. The purpose will be to have an easy answer to the perpetual newbie difficulty “where can I find a sigil to do X?”, “I don’t have money for a grimmoire.”, etc.

So, rather than just saying “read the forums!”, we can say
“Here is a link to a thread! Also, read the forums!”

Anyway, here are some free libraries:
Dante’s free books - http://dantesinfernal.com/Free_Downloads.html ← currently down
Uncle Chuckie - http://www.charlescosimano.com/e-books.html
Twilit Grotto - http://www.esotericarchives.com/
Hermetic Library - http://hermetic.com/
Occult Underground - http://www.occult-underground.com/ebooks.html

The suggested books thread, for buying recommends and discussion:

Free individual books:

Note: Linking to repositories of copyrighted works may not be in your best interests. Specifically, I wouldn’t link any sites that have EA’s works on them. Although Timothy might appreciate having that info so he can have the works removed, it wouldn’t be useful info for this thread.

Note 2: My newbie thread, which will likely be useful to you if you’re looking for books, you may also be looking for tips - http://becomealivinggod.com/forum/new-magician-help/(newbies)-where-to-get-started-start-here/

Great site, you can find almost anything about the occult, http://www.occult-underground.com/ebooks.html

Thank you for the sites they are good for Novices like myself.

Good God the occult underground must house more books than I could read in a decade, that is a gold mine! much thanks Red Circle! I would like 100 times if I could.

X linked that one, but you are welcome for helping direct you to it.

Oh I only saw it in your first post maybe you didn’t even know you listed it. If you have been there and looked over the books which ones do you think are of the most significances ? Also the book section is awesome but there forum has the most disinformation I have ever seen lol. Teddy bear avenue. Christians on it lol 100 post about bad dreams with demons. All kinds of contradicting shit. I’m a newb and it had me laughing I couldn’t imagine E.A. reading those posts. His fingers would be sore with all the schooling he would have to do.

I try to follow my own advice, which is to not let scholarship overtake practice. As such, I am not extremely well-read in occult texts - I have found a few select works to develop the skills I am seeking, and work from them.

Also, this thread is more of a “where to find stuff” rather than a “what stuff should I find” thread.

That said, when digging through online libraries, my suggestion would be to dig around and find what is interesting to you, just to slake your curiosity. Build up a library of texts for later reference, but try to find a mere handful of works to develop your skills. Then work from those books until you gain mastery.

A good place for that is here: ^^

To answer your question somewhat, my most basic recommends are (I’m not sure if any of them are on that website, as they’re newer or still in publication):

EA Koetting - Evoking Eternity
Robert Bruce - Astral Dynamics (revised)
Eckhart Tolle - The Power of Now

Also, based on reputation rather than my personal experience -
(note: these are not “easy” works, but are cited frequently as being among the best) –

Franz Bardon - Initiation Into Hermetics
Franz Bardon - The Practice of Magickal Evocation

Lastly, as far as forum communities for magick go, I really am no expert. I’m on this forum because: a) a friend and magickal colleague of mine recommended it, b) I find EA’s system to be very useful, c) the forum community itself has earned my respect. I don’t know much about other forums, some of them may have great value, or they may be a shit heap. The people here are helpful and generally good at filtering bullshit. Those who oversee/direct the community seem to know their shit and are good at guiding. So yea, browse around, and have a laugh. There may be some gold to be found, even if it is only comedy gold. Good learning occurs on this forum, so make use of that as it presents itself.

^^^^ Agreed this forum has been very useful and funny also. I have both Bardon books. and on that website I found an instructional book on the LBRP which I have been looking for and, the book of Thoth that I almost bought at barnes and noble and a shit load of Grimories (spelling) So much thanks to you and X. Also I didn’t notice that link on here for beginner books so Ill put use to that.

Konstantinos - Summoning Spirits

For mass-market books, I’ve heard that the evocation system presented within is pretty workable, although he gives it perhaps too much of a RHP spin for many on this forum. I haven’t utilized his evocation system specifically, though I have made use of a number of the developmental exercises. Also, there are a goodly number of entities and sigils within the book.

That being said, it should be a fairly solid system, and at less than $20, is much more economical that picking up a more rare grimmoire.

Great info in here, redcircle, thank you!

Bump for new people.

I wanted to add this to the list.

How can I “Unlike” or “Not like” this? What a shitty thing to have happen!

Dante, if you need a new webmaster, I’m your guy!
…I’m also very good at SEO optimization. ;-D

thanks defectron for your answer, tho perhaps Dante’s material is far from my current reach, it was more curiosity than anything else.

If I remember correctly, Dante just had a number of public domain grimmoires posted, something of a “reference section” if you will - a collection of books he found to be of value for any practitioner. His first published book is being pretty heavily advertised around the site/forum if you want to see his actual work.

This is extremely important thread I am bringing back. Lady Eva’s book of choice.
