It’s been suggested by a mentor that I pay more attention to astrology and how the planets move, their energies, etc. Can anyone recommend some decent introductory book titles that can lay the groundwork for this knowledge?

You may wanna look into the general knowledge on astrology to get an idea of what you wanna dig into.
Both western and vedic astrology are huge fields with varying views.
If you just looking for basic information ya can find most of that pretty easily with a basic search on astrology basics. It can get pretty complicated fast though depending on what ya wanna dig into.

That’s fair…I guess to start out with, I’m interested in Western astrology and need an introductory book. Sure, I can google it, but there are so many hits…Just trying to get suggestions from the community to narrow down the field of options.
Which books or source material are well written and on point?
Couldn’t say for western astrology, majority of my focus has been on vedic astrology.

Crowleys books of astrology are excellent

Bill Duvendack has great books, I’d also suggest Robert Hand’s book “Horoscope Symbols,” and Stephen Forrest’s books.
