I recently just hit a new milestone of sobriety overcoming self harm, and I’ve recounted some of the methods that I utilized to suppress my urges using my magick practice to share here.
One of the earliest methods I used was attempting to attack the root source of my addiction was utilizing self purification utilizing abstinence and dieted fasting.
I found that going through the process helped me think a lot clearer overall and cut my anxiety back a TON which was hugely beneficial to my health as well as my practice and it is still one of my go to methods when I get urges.
(This section isn’t necessarily tied to magick, but it was mandatory for myself to undergo before I properly practiced the next section of this or else I had far less effective work)
These are my go to demons for my health:
-
Leviathan
I find that when I meditate with Leviathan, the emotions that are troubling me completely mellow out and cease to exist in the moment and grant me a lot of peace. I personally consider him the “therapist of demons” because of this haha.

Buer
It is no secret that Buer is kind of the go to healing demon for a lot of people, even just on this forum. Similar to Leviathan, I’ve experienced that what is troubling me goes away in the moment and then some, but the difference with Buer for myself is that I feel a less of a presence and more of an altered mindset. I also notice that my scars fade more and more the more I utilize Buer.

Salleos
This one may come as a surprise to some as Salleos is moreso the demon of committed relationships. Remember that a relationship that many would seek Salleos to find should contain a familiar nurturing which is what I find within Salleos during meditation. I feel less scared to open up about how I’m feeling to my closest friends, and anyone should know that finally being to open up about your addictions is the greatest step towards fixing them.
I’ve also found that if you undergo a meditation with Salleos and recite the name of somebody you love, I can ease their anxiety.

Baphomet
I consider myself a follower of Baphomet and his philosophy which has greatly impacted my mindset towards practice in a positive way. Experiencing meditation with Baphomet I find that I gain a better sense of self understanding as to what’s causing my internal conflicts and how handle them positively. Less of it being right there in your face as an answer but the ideas come much smoother.

Utilizing these demons I found myself achieving a consistent streak of sobriety MUCH easier than without them. It was like a sudden breath of fresh air that let me think without overthinking intrusion.
Remember that you are loved even at your lowest and there is never a truly justifiable, good reason to begin harming yourself.
