Does anyone know if Mephistopheles is a name for Lucifuge or any other non-literary inspirations and associations with Mephistopheles? I am under the impression Lucifuge is the same as Mephistopheles because Lucifuge is Latin for “light-fleeing” and Mephistopheles is Greek for “not-light-loving.” Faust was a real person, so I’m guessing Mephistopheles is a real demon. However, there’s virtually no non-literary information on Mephistopheles. Thanks!
