As for making her into a familiar. I think first establish what that means to you and work from there.
Based on what you’re saying I’m responding from the assumption you just want her around when you’re practicing or allowing her to lend her own energy the way a human practicing magick with you would. You wish to work with the innate intillgence with the animal and become spiritually bonded not just mentally, physically and emotionally bonded.
In which case just work on getting to know her and developing the bond between you the way anyone would with their pet.
If you feel the need you may choose to dedicate her to a specific spirit.
But put a lot of thought into this and make sure it’s right for you two and why you might do this if at all.
With my cat I truly feel he was a gift from Freya and I dedicated him as living offering to Freya. I don’t care what anyone else thinks about that he has NOT been harmed in any way. The cat’s soul is still the original entity he is NOT posessed
(I also don’t believe animal sacrifice as in killing the animal is necessary to honor a spirit so caring for a sacred animal is an alternative for me)
My service to him is just also in service to Freya. I think that is enough to make him a familiar by own definition of what that means. But most days I just think of him as my furry baby.
I also attempted to communicate with him and ask him if this was what he wanted and he seemed to accept that.
There’s also a spiritual bonding that takes place and you can define how long that’s going to last. As long as the animal is alive? Does the bond extend beyond death? Through multiple life times? Some practitioners will bond their pets beyond their life span and use their bones in rituals and call upon their spirit for aid (yes that is technically necromancy with a pet)
The bond I share with my cat will last as long as he is willing. I have never felt so close to any other pet I had before as a kid. (And I was pretty close to them)
I don’t believe you can force an animal to be your familiar,confidant,friend etc If its going to happen it will be done because they accept it.
So to summarize

In the end how you define your relationship with her is up to you and her and no one else.
