Magickal Imagination Development

I’ve talked about and posted quite a lot about the magickal imagination. Personally, I believe this skill to be one of the most important skills to have in evocation, scrying, manifestation, and well - pretty much every magickal practice would benefit exponentially from a well developed magickal imagination.

I have studied this, played with it, built technique after technique - kept some, tossed others. I have pretty much developed a step-by-step course for building from a normal imagination all the way to where I am now (which isn’t amazing, but it’s much better than it was previously).

And god damnit, I just came up with a new step. And holy shit it works great!

Note: this is probably more for those who can already project an ethereal “ghost” vision. What I mean by this is - if you are able to project an image in front of you such that it actually takes on an energetic 3D form with texture and “substance” with a very ghostly overlay of the details and colors. Akin to a near mirage type of a look.
I don’t know if this will work for earlier stages, but I am definitely interested in finding out. For those of you who wish to take this up and try it, I would be well pleased to hear the results.

For me though, this is an excellent technique to bump things up to the next level.
Now, I’m not a proponent of television. In fact, I hate it. I try to watch as little of it as possible. But I do have a few shows downloaded for the occasional commercial free zone-out. If that makes any non-hypocritical sense. heh

At any rate - I just put 2 and 2 together.

My black mirror/pyramid was sitting next to my monitor, and a cartoon was going for the my daughter. I set the mirror right next to the screen and began gazing into it. With everything that was going on in the cartoon, I tried my damnedest to replicate it in the mirror and keep up with the cartoon.

… and wow …

This will stretch your abilities. The cartoon is about 20 minutes long. So that’s 20 minutes of intense visual exercising.

It’s simple and easy and extremely effective. I have a feeling that this may very well be one of the exercises capable of bumping the magickal visualizations up to the level where you can actually get a solid form in front of you. I don’t know for sure, but having exercised with it, there is something about it. You’re basically translating the semi-peripheral images from the screen, directly into the mirror as accurately as possible. Every detail, every move, every object and position. You can just feel it working.

If anybody decides to give this a go, please let me know and, if you would be so kind, let me know your current level of visualization as well as what kind of progress you see after a few weeks of this exercise.

Gracias!

Hope this helps

great idea.

so, if i get, the point is to watch the movie in the reflective surface (be it crystal, black mirror, anti-glare monitor, maybe?) and try to make sense out of it.

the last time you proposed a visualization exercise, it was also not-so much for begginers. i am not able to project a visualization/image in front of me. i do it in sleep and while in hypnagogia. but not when i’m in my temple “trying” to visualize.

so… i will try practicing that which you propose now. since the best reflective surface i can think of now is my ceramic black bowl, i’ll use that. fuck… it’s like sayin’ “today i’m gonna benchpress everything”. but i’ll go stupid and do it. and mere thinking of it at this moment increases pressure inside my forehead.

and please DK, try to arrange somekind of “zero to intermediate” vizualization skill workflow. how to get ANYTHING to appear before me. you said something earlier about looking at the blank piece of paper, trying to vizualize objects. but i still feel like that’s too advanced.

at my current level, i do my expanded version of LBRP and MP, trying to visualize all those lights and fireworks… and i recently started focusing on “the pencil” - first exercise from the “Basics of psionics” by Uncle Chuckie. i think that exercise is going pretty fine. i have started to get the feel of concentration.

So Where Can I find The beginners Imagination Exercises

@bahamuthat - well, I’m saying to put your reflective surface right next to your tv, so when you’re looking into your mirror, you can see the tv decently well out of the corner of your eye. But you’re not going to be looking at the reflection of the tv, you’ll allow yourself to trance down and imagine everything you see from the corner of your eye into the bowl. So it’s only your imagination you’re looking for in your bowl.

@immortal_wisdom & bahamuthat
Perhaps that is a good idea. I know I already posted a magickal imagination tutorial. I will clean it up, add this, and add some more beginner exercises as well. Perhaps you guys can give me some feedback and let me know where you’re at and what has worked for you in the past as well so I can get my bearings on this for everyone. I will also meditate and go back to remember what helped me well in the beginning.
Thanks for the reality check guys, I definitely need to incorporate something for everyone. After all this is a place of learning and advancement.

Thanks DK The Mage
Well Recently I began to understand how important is the imagination in any magical practice ,and alot of trainers advice to practice imagination ,but they don’t give a step by step approach .
and Actually I’m confused between imagination Vs Visualization
thanks for your help

Visualization - or, imagining your positive outcome - initiates magick.

Take care to understand my next line…

Magick is the act of mental and astral energy causing change in the physical plane.

Visualization - inside your imagination - is the very mental energy that triggers the astral energy into materializing your physical desire.

Mental > Astral > Physical

Would you care to elaborate on how this ties into the Law of Reverse Effort? If visualization leads to astral and then physical formation, why does the desire need to be released in a ritualistic manner?

So The visualization is the Mental sense that’s most important in manifestation

Brilliantly said, Timothy

If you re-watch E.A.'s brief explanation of the L.R.E., he actually confirms the basic metaphysical law that “energy flows where attention goes”.

The Magical Law Of Reversed Effort
For example, if you need money, and focus on the threat of going bankrupt, then you’ll go out of business, because that was the mental focus.

Whereas, if you need money, and focus on confidently growing a business, then you’ll increase your sales.

Mental intent > astral energy > physical change

People misinterpret the L.R.E. to mean that they should focus on the “opposite” of what they want to get what they ACTUALLY want.

That’s stupid, and wrong.

If you focus on what you DON’T want, then you’ll get what you don’t want.

If you sit in a restaurant, and order a salad, because you want a cheeseburger, you’re going to have a waiter bring you a salad, not a cheeseburger.

Positive intent drives manifestation.

Now that being said, I do subscribe to the Law of Diminishing Returns, which states that doing something too much, will eventually yield decreased results.

For example, if you take heroin too many times, you’ll develop a tolerance, and need to take bigger doses to reach the same level of high you achieved from a lower dose previously.

And eventually, the Law of Diminishing Returns, leads to what I call the Law of Repulsion, where if do too much of something to a critical degree, you eventually get the opposite result. (Which is what the Law of Reversed Effort really means)

For example, if you drink water, you’ll hydrate your body and live. But if you drink too much water, you can literally die from water intoxication.

Law of Positive Intent (a.k.a. Law of Attraction) > Law of Diminishing Returns > Law of Repulsion (a.k.a. law of Reversed Effort)

To use a final metaphor to illustrate:

  1. If you’re dying of thirst, and focus on getting water to survive, you’ll feel motivation to find/manifest a supply of water to drink. (Law of Positive Intent)

  2. Once you’re drinking it, you start filling up, feeling fulfilled, and the positive effects/desire for the water starts decreasing. (Law of Diminishing Returns)

  3. If you continue drinking, you’ll reach a point where you may drink too much, and risk death by water intoxication. (Law of Repulsion/Reversed Effort)

I just had an idea, if you focus on what you don’t want enough would that eventually cause you to get what you do want? Of course you’d probably have to go through alot of shit before you get to that point, so that may not be the most effective way of going about doign things.

I am just a simple guy…I try to break it down and this topic reminds me of two people I know…

One is very negative and expects only the worse to happen…and always has something going wrong…All the appliances break all the time. The air cond. blows up…the washing machine is finding new ways to shut down…the roof is always having shingles blow off…etc…you get the idea. What is going to happen next…she justs looks for it…saying I can never get a head. Seeing several doctors monthly and on medication as she thinks that is the answer to physical problems.

The other one has less of an income but is always looking for the good side of things…has excellent health and always has a smile on her face and never has anything to say bad about anyone…it is a pleasure to be around her and in her presence…

I say both of these illustrations are a product of their own mind. Things that happen in their life are a direct result of their thought process…

I could say this, to me, is a reflection of how magic works…what you expect to happen will…whether it is manifestation or whether it is a partial expectation…and Uncle Chuckie is a great example of this with his mind set.

Bumping this because it’s pretty damned great!

By the way this works even better with porn. lol

If anybody still prefers comics I recommend Anime. Just kidding I’m not into that.

That said, sexuality helps with imagination. Hence the power of Sex Magick. It is way easier even for a simple person to conjure sexual images than it is to conjure most other things.

Start with porn.
Then continue with comics.
From there move onto complex imagery that is super difficult to replicate.
