Magick for the Non-Practitioner

Today I have the inspiration to write a mini-guide :star_struck:. Feedback is welcome  .

Magick for the Non-Practitioner

Not everyone is a doctor, but everyone should be able to apply a band-aid :adhesive_bandage:. Not everyone is an electrician, but everyone should be able to swap a light bulb :light_bulb: . Similarly, not everyone is an occultist :mage:, but everyone should be able to… what? What is the simplest and at the same time most helpful skill in magick?

The two most obvious answers are to fulfil your wishes, and more generally, to ensure that everything goes well for you :+1:. Thankfully, there is a technique which covers them both: charging an intent with energy :star_struck:. How does it work?

In the first step, of course, pick an intent. It can be something general, like “I am always healthy and in good shape” or “everything always goes well for me”. It can also be something concrete that you currently need, like "I do well on the exam”, “this job interview goes amazingly”, or “I find a great apartment”. Phrase it in positive and present terms.

The next step is difficult to describe in words: How to charge it with energy? You can visualise how your fulfilled wish will look and then energise this mental image :framed_picture:. You can feel into the emotion of success and energise this emotion . But you can also charge the intent itself. Draw energy from all around you, or from the sun or nature – whatever feels powerful :star_struck:. Then charge your intent with it. Feel the words power up.

Find a way that works for you, that you can really feel. The feeling of magick is what’s most important. Just like the feeling of lifting weights comes with actually lifting weights :person_lifting_weights: , trust that your unique feeling of magick goes together with actual magick happening :star_struck:.

Do this every day, perhaps a few minutes for what you currently need, and a few for the general things like always being healthy. If you only have one minute today, do it for always being healthy. Notice how you will start being sick less often and getting well more quickly. If you have another minute, do it for everything going well. Do it while on public transport :tram:, or even while sitting on the toilet. Yes, more concentration is better, but even a little concentration is much better than doing nothing.

You will probably not notice this working immediately. However, if you do it for a while, you will realise in conversations with other people, that you have fewer problems than them. The reward for doing magick before you need it, is that your life is simply going well :+1: . That is how such general magick works. Now make it work for you.

Bonus: Quick Guide to Happiness

Some people say – or perhaps imply – that you have to be a good Christian, a good humanist, a good patriot, a good citizen or at least a vaguely defined “good person”. Those people are all wrong :-1:. All you have to do is to be happy . So the most important question is: What do you have to do to be happy?

The answer is a passion, an action, not a goal. Consider “playing the piano :musical_keyboard:” versus “becoming the best pianist in the world”. The first is what must provide continuous fulfilment, regardless of whether you achieve the second, or any other specific milestone :chequered_flag: . So use experimentation and introspection to find out what fulfils you :magnifying_glass_tilted_left:. Then you build your life so that you can do as much as possible of it :star_struck:. Obviously, also maintain everything else that you want in your life, like your love life :revolving_hearts: , friendships :hugs: , income :money_with_wings: , fitness :flexed_biceps: and so on. When needed, use magick in all of these areas :mage:.

That is it – the simplest and most direct approach to magick :star_struck: and to happiness . Enjoy.

(AI disclosure: I had it point out grammatical errors. The writing is mine .)

You make great points. By framing internal thought trains to be short and positive and open ended, you have a greater chance of accomplishment of the action. NLP pairs well with framing present and future tense of stating the action.
