No… you have to back up a minute and find out what he means by that. Maybe he had some bad experiences. As an occult author he probably attracts religious trolls a lot, and don’t forget there has been religious persecution of not just occultists but normal herbalists and cunning people in the US as well as Europe… by people claiming to be worshiping a 'god of love".
Very few who call themselves mages or occultists fits this label.
Or he may be talking about the types of new age people that try to deny any kind of dark side to themselves, which is unhealthy.
Some become so imbalanced by only allowing positivity that it becomes toxic and self-defeating as they suppress their own needs and inner selves. Suppressed emotions tend to fester and then erupt later like boils. Some are very “turn the other cheek” to the point of self destruction by failing to take care of themselves, while others are not, but display very hypocritical, antagonistic behaviour and darkness, throwing curses and angry baneful magick but claiming they are “of the light”. Those guys I guess you could worry about a bit.
But then again some cruise along just fine being mild and nice to everybody and like attracts like, so they have a normal life and all is well.
There’s an interesting comment about how the RHP path can be self-defeating here by a former member who walked that path for many years and then become more middle of the road:
I don’t think working with angels automatically says anything about your personally philosophy or approach to life.
What you do, and the reason you are doing it are two different things.
