It could be a riddle, to kill something that cant be killed you just need to make it so it never lives.
just ignore it.

The blindfolded man is just swinging around his sword at a threat he cant see.
the unarmed man is allowing himself to be struck by a threat that cant see him.

the blindfolded man should stop lashing out at imaginary threats.
the unarmed man should walk away from avoidable threats.

You kill the unkillable by ignoring its life.

That speaks to me. Thank you.

Hiya OP! Is this still an issue you’re facing?

Hey there Qayos, been a while, hope you’re doing well!
This matter was resolved, though I find I am continually beset by combat and challenges of one sort or another. By today’s standards, the entity in the original post was a small chump.

While I do not currently have this specific problem (at the moment), I do welcome any advice you’d have to give, along with any advice pertaining to alchemy or ritual to make oneself stronger

Likewise!

As for advice, well, I’ve seen the misconception floating around that greater beings can be defeated through elementary methods or the use of elemental magic. This is untrue; anything that can be defeated by something so basic is not a greater being, but a grunt, at best. This is because actual great entities have protocols in place that protect them from certain types of magic and events, and in order to route them, you have to figure out what options are available to you, if any. It usually takes teamwork or at least time to prepare appropriate measures against such beings.

As for what you can do to get stronger, find a sparring partner! You can hire some entities to spar with you if your spiritual connections don’t provide one. Sparring with a Great One, like Mahakali, will make you stronger then any alchemical procedure could.

Wow

EXACTLY! And I’ve also learned that certain entities, particularly deities, have safeguards in place to prevent permanent death. This can be done either by using a person’s life, or as I found with one nasty parasitic entity, spreading it’s own essence in different places allowing it to “come back” until killed in its entirety. Lol so basically, theyve got horcruxes from Harry Potter.

Any advice on determining the defenses greater spirits have in place prior to combat? From experience, it’s a hell of thing to hit something and realize “oh shit, that didn’t work like I intended”.

And could you elaborate upon what you meant by elemental magic? I was under the impression that casting energy was a manifestation of will, fuelled by the practitioner/what the practitioner is drawing upon to fuel that energy, and as such the elemental magics in combat were just different ways of manifesting the energy. Using fire as the first example: initial energy is used to produce the flame, but then the flame takes energy from surrounding it to fuel itself and either keep the same, or spread further. Earth energy is a huge, solid, manifestation of a lot of energy, much like the dropping of a boulder on top of someone.

I know that astrally, people have weapons that are embodiments of their will and can use them just as effectively, if not more so than elemental magics, but I do wonder as to the reasons between the differences in efficacy between astral weaponry and manifestation of energy/will in combat.

You won’t be able to even perceive most of the good defenses! Instead, focus on your own defenses and sharpening your weaknesses out of existence. Most of such creatures don’t have a reason to go hunting for people like us, so the more difficult you make the matter of becoming a prey animal, the less motivated most random encounters will be to continue, unless you press them.

As for casting, willpower is just a spark to set magical fires, it’s not the only one or the best. Most people observe a transformation of will to energy in astral awareness because its the most accessible by default. Magic is more energetic dynamics and patterns/programming than will, and the precision and magnitude of such things goes up as your power does. If you try to contextualize these things in the manner of a clash of wills, and it is a truly great being you’re up against, you will fail- no matter how many past and future memories you’ve integrated, at that scope they can sometimes access infinitely deeper and wider pools of information. Aiming with will or basic energetic combat will get the brains beaten out of you if it’s an opponent truly deserving to be called great!

What you’re looking for is precision, cunning, and allies. You will need specifically cultivated tech to just have a chance, and even then, that can fail- if you were a being whose uninterrupted awareness spanned thousands or millions of years or beyond, don’t you think you’d have a sleeve of tricks for every situation of questionable outcome? These responses can even be automated to the point where they don’t need to pay you any attention for you to fail and be punished for it!

I’ve even seen self-proclaimed “Necromancers” on a certain discord server that believed they could slay deities, who were believed to only understand their mythical spheres of action, through repeated targeting of death essence, as if the energy of death wasn’t also the power of evolution! Nincompoops are common when you look for this kind of thing, but even more so is intentional or accidental misrepresenting of weak beings such a character could trample as powerful of any kind.

That’s fragmenting and pretty much anyone can do, but it’s not particularly a ideal defense as it has big cons to doing it. Even for a Deity.
