The LWA aren’t “easy.” They have a reputation for screwing with people.

However, probably the simplest method would be to use the veve of Papa Legba, and ask for an introduction.

What kind of response should I expect like do you have any idea like what form the message comes through to me could you give me an example what to expect

Yeah pretty much, I started with of verve of Papa Legba and ended up with a 3 hour automatic writing event.

As far as what to expect. The Loa feel similar to human dead to me, imagine there is a reason for that however. They communicate with me in several ways, the most common however is with what I call impressions. It’s not quite a picture, not quite words, not quite anything in full, but its a feeling that impresses an image upon my mind. Otherwise Samedi and Kalfu first approached me in dreams, I’ve had the automatic writing experience, and the Loa pretty much just walk into any conversation that they see fit for them to be involved in, invited or not.

I may not follow the religion of voodoo, but what I can say is to work with the Loa is to walk a path and it is not for everyone. The people that I am aware of that work with them, without the religious aspects, have all received an invitation of sorts to work within the current. I am not sure how you will fair calling on Legba. He may welcome you or send you packing sucking your thumb.

Ok thank you I think I’ll get some offerings for one the loa and try to open a veve and ask for further guidance I’ll do it at a cemetery crossroads or some place that has a connection to them and then I’ll just wait and stay alert and open minded and mentally and spirituality conscious for a sign

I’ve heard of coffee and candies and a cigar and rum work well as a offering also heard silver coins I’m underage for liquor so no rum and I have no silver coins or cigars I could get cigarettes or tobacco easier than a cigar and I could substitute regular coins and coffee And candies instead of rum :+1:t2: Does that sound like it would work as a offering ok :ok_hand:t2:?

I actually do not make offerings. Coffee and tobacco are generally considered good for of all the Loa that I’ve encountered so far, at least according to other magicians.

Yes same here I don’t usually do offerings either but I’ve heard that the lwa especially love offerings and are more cooperative when given them I’ve even heard some people say things can turn sour if not given offerings

You should do whatever you feel you should do. I feel they don’t require offerings or worship and that most of that goes along with the religious aspects and not the practical hands on aspects. At the end of the day, you are your own operator.

Well. The thing I’ve found is the literature can be very misleading and unpractical and heavily religiously influenced. You need to be pretty good at sifting through what’s good and what’s not, to use most of the stuff out there.

I tried opening the veve and asking for him nothing yet but he could come when I least expect it or in dream

Can I print out veves to open or print them out and trace them and open them some veves are intricate hard to draw also is blood ok to put on veves like a sigil

You can print them out. For the longest time I had each of the verves I was using on a piece of paper. I recently moved however, and needed to recreate them. This time I made them on poster board with a blue sharpie. Each is about 1 foot x 1 foot and lets just say Oguns took like 14 sheets of this 1x1 poster board, so I understand they are difficult- At least in my case the wasted material wasn’t wasted and it was free.

You can put blood on a verve or offer it the Loa, but I would once again caution you to think twice about it. It’s not like a religious cult, like you read about, but the Loa spirits don’t work like demons and djinn and angels, where you can summon them up, task them and then never see them again. They will become a part of your life, and even when your working with other beings, they are never exactly far off…

My advice, never give a Loa your own blood. Do a lot of research before committing to a Veve, many people influenced by this site will draw them on paper, however the Loa operate off of devotion and will test you, there is typically an order of operations to appeal to the Loa, first honor your ancestors who’s names are known and unknown ancestors through the Guedé and then before any Loa is approached one must retain “permission” through honoring Papa Legba.
I recommend the Veves be drawn on the ground with cornmeal and placement of candles and appropriate offerings.

Ya the veve on the ground with powders and corn meal or ground mollusks shells powder Is traditional way they do in Africa or Haiti or the south
