In the Book of Abramelin, it is mentioned that “Among women, there be only Virgins who are suitable” to contact the Holy Guardian Angel 
. In the newer Dehn variant which contains the original text, it says that for men it is also better to be unmarried.
I’m not sure why. Perhaps it’s just a matter of “Lowering the volume on your outer life while raising the volume on your inner life.” Maybe it’s also about not having your heart 
already occupied.
