Maybe don’t put your main character in danger of death? That should work, I think.
As for the other, Qayos has said that there is a limit in what one person can handle, so if you’re going to multiply your legion’s numbers, be cautious.

Alright, I’ve decided to initiate the second test of my legion on Saturday, when I have some time to fully devote to the activation process. I suspect the first mission may have failed because I rushed, and didn’t properly achieve command.

Although, my legion is more of a general purpose “Jack of All Trades” type, so the numbers were likely needed for that reason. Your numbers are suited best for your reasons!

What is the best way for bringing out the best from your legion?
Does one need to meditate before the ritual?
Is a TGS state required?
Is a presence required to be felt?
Can you just whisper or it needs to be loud.

One of the best ways is to just work with them. They grow more powerful as you use them. So just use them, and use them a lot.
So yeah, meditate with them, get used to their energy, send them on tasks. Basically validate their existence and watch them grow. There is nothing required to work with them beyond the instructions given in the PM that Qayos sends.
Though having some skill in manipulating and sensing energy will help. Having some skill in telepathic communication with entities will help, but all of it isn’t required. They are very much ‘give a task and let go’.
Quick answers to your questions:

- No, but Meditation always helps performance and allows one to drop into the magical state of mind and acts as a boundary or mental queue between the regular world and your magical practices.

- TGS not required. Just follow the instructions in the PM. These legions are programmed to be very stupidly easy to use.

- No, you are not required to feel the presence. Just chant the name the number of times specified within the PM he sent you.

- Your commands can be delivered however you wish once you get their attention. Out loud, whispered, or mental.

A petition paper will also work for giving commands. Throw the sigil on there, the legion names and your commands and burn that fucker.

Have you already tried? I have a… long and detailed task for them and this would be ideal method to command them.

Not yet, Qayos said it would work. It’s most likely the best way for long detailed commands until you get more use to commanding them verbally
