I practice Protestant Christianity for more than 10 years, and it is very strong what they put in our heads, above all to always serve and honor yhwh, now I find myself in palo mayombe and evocation of entities (I do not like to say demons for I bring back memories of my Christian Jewish idea, and negative connotations) follow your path, talk to them as you did when you prayed, there is need to show a lot of respect, express what you want to learn and they will give you guidance, you will be surprised how they respond quickly, things that Christianity would be a miracle

What @anon53785115 says here is accurate on all fronts.
There are many different ways up the mountain, so to speak. I would recommend you study philosophies, particularly of eastern origin, as well as different mythological stories.
It will broaden your perspective, as well as help identify different beliefs that you thought were universal and concrete. The mythology can help in viewing beings in a similar fashion to other people.
I do not think one should start with evocation and summoning, one should start with learning the different branches of the occult tree, so to speak. But this is just my opinion, everyone’s path is their own.

Which means you have quite a task ahead of you to deconstruct your mindset from that doctrine and teaching. Cutting those thoughtforms is important and the more time you spend in the quiet and calling out to them , the more they will renew your mind

If you want, making offerings can be quite enjoyable. I worry sometimes my practice is veering in demonolotry and maybe I’m not getting as much out of these beings as I should.

Curtisology, have you looked at demonolatry? S. Connolly has done some great work for aspiring demonolaters or those that want to establish more formal relationships with demons. She’s got all sorts of rites and approaches for anything from establishing your patron deity, prayers, to demonic hierarchies and all that fun stuff.

Some expect praise while others just want to see you do what you told them you would do in the end.
No one can give a definitive answer besides some masters probably. I still don’t even consider my self close to mastering any of this but in my experience the ones who expect offerings and praise will generally let you know when you made them mad or didn’t do what they expected. But also, a lot of entities also know that not all humans are in the same situation which is why some settle for blood offerings or food / fruit offerings. A lot of them have it in their writings what would fit them usually.
You can devote yourself to whoever you would like, the ideal is to find someone who would make a good spiritual mentor… for example : Would I recommend King Paimon for a beginner? No. Would I recommend Lucifer or Astarte for a beginner? Yes. It’s all based on them and their writings. You can’t begin to understand who would fit into your life as a teacher without the education on who they were previous to Roman desecration.
There are quite a few who do equivalent exchange work as well, and one that came to mind immediately was Belial. He expects you to carry out your part of the deal as much as you expect him to carry out yours. I’ve seen people fall into very dark places working with him and becoming lazy instead of doing their part. You can’t just expect them to do what you ask anymore, you have to do your part to manifest it into reality as well.
As for the how to properly serve and give praise to a demon - Work with them, show your respect to them, finish your path with them, do what they ask and let them do what you asked, then write about the experience as well as meditate on them and focus on giving them thanks. They will hear you as they are all connected to specific aspects of the subconscious and conscious mind to begin with.
Example : I formed a pact with Lucifer previously and my method of honoring him is sharing the information I learn of the depths of the sub-conscious instead of hiding it like those in the library of the Vatican.

Hiya OP! The greatest honor, service, or praise you could give demons is eating them, because it not only gives them a fractional consciousness that can experience and live through you, it shows both you and them that you’re not fucking around; that you’re not out for quick thrills and fixes like 99% of people that summon them. So eat them, and let them become as much you as you become of them, and prove to yourselves that you’re just like them, just incarnated. Eating them doesn’t poof them away, but rather bonds you and the demon together, becoming more alike each other and in resonance. You eat that which you want to become more akin to, and ‘tug-of-soul’ing to get it into your orbits establishes you as the dominant figure in the relationship. 
Demons want nothing more than to not be wasted.

Yes, eat! As in, drag into yourself via your energetic gravity (they usually orbit yourself first), and dissolve the essence if not the whole demon within your systems. It brings you much closer to them in resonance, and is an act of devotion-wanting to BE so much that you are willing to BE-COME- that they don’t often receive do to human ideas of self-importance and selfhood. By dissolving them within yourself, you display a trans personal love of the very force they are part of and step closer to assimilating their originations within you. There is no greater honor than to fuel the rising of something much greater, and by consuming them, you are serving the natural order and honoring these beings by choosing them as your baseboard for a lifetime of total power. In other words, you are what you eat, and you honor the natural order and what you eat by using that which you have become more alike in ways normal humans never would.

You can do that! You’d just have to explain to him the act of devotion and as an effort to become more like him, and have him fuse with the food to turn it into his physical body.
The laws of nature apply to every plane and scale of reality, and there is no greater worship than the Hunter has for the hunted; no greater service than to be fuel for another’s continuance and evolution. A fox gives endless praise to the hare that supplies it (and maybe it’s kits). Especially spiritually, whereby these creatures know you admire them so much that you wish to become all that they are and beyond.
If you wish to continue serving them as a human would, through a human mind, that is your choice. But none of the methods approach the ballpark of eating them, which is how Nature worships herself.
