Has anyone ever experienced not being able to burn a sigil?

I got the notion to burn an old sigil of Zahgurim that had been laying unused for a while, but when I tried to light the lighter that had worked just fine a second ago, it was just impossible. So I tried another one, a real storm lighter. Tested it first and it had a strong sturdy flame, but when I tried to light the sigil, it just flashed and died. Then I tried matches - didn’t work of course. Tried a second pack and that worked (had an EU ring of stars on it).
Has anyone ever experienced this? It was the second time I had made the sigil as I felt he wanted to give it another try.

(Yeah, it was baneful magick against an longtime (8 years) tormentor who attacks me with painful astral attacks everyday. Have not done anything to him btw, only fled from his constant vampirizing attacks and then he begun hurting me instead.)

I have had seals not burn before. I actually had one where the edges of the paper burned all around the seal but the seal itself remained untouched. It was like the flame was blown out in an almost perfect circle just as it approached the outer area of the seal.

I may have thought to him half heartedly before to blow out the flames if he wanted to stay… The feeling I got afterwards was he was unhappy and gave up. Did I act wrongly? But there was no action and I read they can hang around and vampirize if you leave an activated sigil around. Oh, well.

No, I don’t think you did anything wrong. You are correct that some of the beings from the Simon Necronomicon can be vampiric so it’s always better to be safe than sorry. After all, it is your area, not the demon’s and if there has been no action on the task, why keep it around?

I don’t think you’re supposed to burn them. Or at least not all of them.

As far as I know there are two reasons to burn them:

  1. directly after the ritual, in order to send the spirit and the forces off (unless you want to keep it for recharging)
  2. if it is a sigil of something malevolent used for baneful magick, you do not want that around as it can spread to you and your close surroundings.

No, but I tried once to dissolve Asmodeus sigil engraved in copper in solution for copper etching. Didn’t work, almost no sign of dissolvement. Despite that in the same solution with it on the same amount of time were other things from copper and they were dissolved almost completely.

Hmmm interesting you talked about this. But some years ago I experienced that too. There is powerful magic behind the 50 names of Marduk. See the symbol of the € which looks like one of the 50 sigils  those sigils, names and Symbols are a lot more powerful than one might think

He is called Loki by others but himself said his true name is Loptr. Is his core and his awareness. It’s more powerful than the name other give him  summon him as you need if spoken or not is your choice too

Yes! First my matches wouldn’t burn, then my gas lighter refused to work. I Went to my gas stove and then it burnt all of a sudden sooo quick, that I burnt myself. It felt as if it were a bit of a punishment for insisting to burn it.
