Evoking characters from rpgs is classic chaos magick. It was something pretty common in the 90’s and early 00’s on chaos magick boards and there are articles about it on the old chaos matrix archive. Taylor Ellwood has a book, Pop Culture Magick, all about evoking characters from books, comics, and television shows. Chenor is no different.
Yep, we did that for sure. The fundamental difference is that Chenor is from an obscure RPG that no one has even heard of so there is little to no power to draw on. That’s why I think he’s better treated as a servitor rather than something with batteries included.
Good old Chaos Matrix. I practically lived there. Also Z Cluster and Autonomatrix and others I’ve long forgotten
I wonder about that. With groups like Black Witch Coven and the like promoting him, he’s probably got more power now than he originally did. Belief is the main operating principle in chaos magick so as long as the magician can invest enough belief in Chenor, he should be able to accomplish whatever is asked.
One question we never asked ourselves as chaos magicians is what belief actually does. It was just axiomatic that belief was a key to it.
This is my own opinion just based on self observation. Belief allows your own energy to flow. A lack of belief blocks it up. Try doing a spell for a result you deep down don’t believe you can attain and feel that knot in your chest or gut as the energy refuses to move.
What does that have to do with Chenor? Maybe nothing but I wanted to put that out there before I forgot it. On that topic I’ll only suggest that people wanting to experiment along those lines do it with eyes open and to aim for tangible results. That will say more about what’s what than my opinion will
I’ve been thinking about the limits of belief for a while now. If you go into the manifesting groups on reddit and tumblr, they all regurgitate the notion that anything and everything is possible if you just believe really hard, but they then can’t explain why schizophrenics don’t manifest their hallucinations when they wholeheartedly believe in them, or why clinically insane people plummet to their demise while truly believing they can fly.
There’s that but also documented cases of people doing the miraculous including flying. So the question for me is why does it work for some but not others.
In his book Consorting with Spirits, Jason Miller tells the story of a student who didn’t understand why he was feeling out of sorts when he was doing a Lesser Invoking of Jupiter, and it turned out that despite the fact that he believed he was invoking Jupiter, and his conjuration and intent was to call the energies of Jupiter, he was drawing the invoking pentagram of Saturn so he was getting Saturn, despite believing otherwise. There appear to be some things simple belief cannot overide.
I’d like to see those documented cases because the only stories I’ve read of people defying gravity and flying are folklore and mythology. Do you have a link or can point me to where I can find them?
That is the question. If such abilities are possible, why can only some people accomplish them? If belief is all it took, there would be more people flying around and the airlines would go out of business.
I believe it was in Supernormal: Science, Yoga, and the Evidence for Extraordinary Psychic Abilities by Dean Radin where I read it but it’s been years.
A certain concensus gets built up around what certain ritual patterns do. And it’s not confined to the contents of your brain. Consciousness may well be non local. I suspect that applies to other things too.
what youtube video did i post that said that?
Wait - oh it’s not a youtube, it’s a link to the persons website, and it has a Donate button, wihch makes it against the rules to link under the no advertising rule, same as why we’re not linking black witch coven.
Thanks for letting me know, I’m sorry but that link has had to be removed.
ok the only other place i found info on chenor was here
I haven’t looked at this in quite a while. I’m currently listening to a fellow talking about use of psychedelics and mind altering drugs to work with Christ. I’ve watched a few videos on occult workings with different mind altering drugs and techniques including fasting, exhaustion, sleep deprivation, meditation, etc. what’s that have to do with Chenor? Probably nothing but maybe such usages could aid one in this. I’d like to think that a fantasy being os merely a mask of something else. Why it became sort of popular is probably like deciphering why certain things become popular memes. I just have no clue. Is this still a thing.
Chenor…. I swear I made a being of a similar name back when I gamed decades ago.
