Frankincense sticks, burnt or unburnt. Dried sunflower petals. Bits of copal resin. Red candles, ideally tall ones. Waking up an hour earlier than usual to commune. Any heartfelt words, written on paper and rolled in a scroll. [He was enthused about his sigil burnt on a piece of wood, layered with gold leaf. I suggest this if you will be doing long term work with him.] If you have an alter, using blue tack to secure the items is a nice bonus.
Edit: my alter was within a desk cupboard, hence the blue tack.
