Watch a few Ghost Adventure episodes, that’s where they use a lot of the devices mentioned here.

I don’t know about IOS but there’s an app called EchoVox 2.5 and there’s also SpiritVox app. I think they’re available. If you find them, you can search Youtube to see how they work, not all people like this specific concept of EVP spirit box devices.
You need to record your sessions, then use audio editing software to review the recordings, you’ll find lots of hidden messages.

I don’t know about these two apps sorry. Copy the names and search appstore, if they’re not in the store they won’t come up in the search results.
I’ve personally used necrophonic, the price tag is high, but it is worth it. I’ve tested it and so have my witch friends, it is pretty legit.
