Fictional Magickal Systems and Worlds

Hey guys, been a long time since I last made any post here.

As of progress, It’s going slow, I finally have the BALG e-book and I am at the moment working on Soul Travel (But like I said, it’s going slow… And I don’t have a place where I can pratice quietly)

Now, to the topic:

I saw in a magick forum somewhere (Don’t remember), where someone asked about Video Game Magick, and they said something about making it work with Chaos Magick.

Now, there ARE a lot of very interesting magick systems in fictional worlds (Such as Anime, Manga, Movies, Books, etc) and being a writter of my own fiction, I tend to think about that, a lot.

One of my favorite fictional Magick systems is the ones used in the Nasuverse (Know by works such as: Tsukihime, Fate Stay Night, Melty Blood, etc… Yes, I am a devoted Otaku/Geek), and one (two) very interesting things: Reality Marble ([url=http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Reality_Marble]http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Reality_Marble[/url]) and Marble Phantasm ([url=http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Marble_Phantasm]http://typemoon.wikia.com/wiki/Marble_Phantasm[/url]).

Tough, they have set limitations in their universes.

The thing is, have anyone here tried to use o create a magick system based on one used on a Fictional World? Or summon an entity from there?

And since I am trying to learn Soul Travel, have anyone attempted to enter those fictional dimensions?

OFF: How do I post links without having to copy-paste then? Do I use a HTML code?

I wanted a new wand and I intentionally designed it to be about the same length as the wands in the Harry Potter movies, because they look so much more awesome than the slightly longer wands I had used before.

That’s as close as I’ve gotten!

It’s BB (Bulletin Board) code - this page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBCode explains how to do it, you can either copy-paste so a link looks like the one above - with the full “http://” bit visible, or you can mask a link like this so words become a hyperlink.

It’s basically stuff in square brackets, but similar enough to HTML that if you know one, you can easily do the other.

Have you read Pop Culture Magick by Taylor Ellwood? Its all about using systems and characters from fiction. Or the book Grimoire Dehara, which is based on the system of magic from a fantasy series by Storm Constantine?

Yeah, those wands where awesome!
Did it gave you any different results?

Pop Culture Magick huh? I have heard of it and plan on getting it, since the topic is very interesting to me. About the grimeoire tough, nope, I didn’t heard of it before, but thanks for the info!

I’ve barely used it - it’s gorgeous, real copper and brass, took ages to make, and a small natural double-pointed quartz crystal at one end, and then as soon as I’d finished it I was told “You’re not ready to use this yet!” and so it’s been safely stored away.

I’ve been working extremely hard on all my occult/magickal stuff since the last quarter of last year, so I’m hoping I’ll be using it very soon, it’s far too nice to be “saved for best”!

I have. I think early childhood paradigms are ripe for use.

I like to invoke Doctor Who in situations with no obvious solution.

It’s not so much creating a magic system as it is taking inventory of the magical systems you already have. These systems are not fictional, they exist within us, irregardless of where they came from.

Fandom approximates ritual devotion. Those fictional paradigms can be stronger than supposed real ones.

PAH! not ready!?!

One is never “not ready”, they are simply doubting themselves.

Make sure to share your experiences using it! I’m kinda curious with what you can make with a Harry Potter Wand…

Childhood paradigms huh? Can’t say I have ever done the pinky swear (nor see anyone doing that here in Brazil), but things such as the bloody mary are VERY popular on a 3 floor building school I used to frequent in my childhood… We had a belief that the reason the 3rd floor has never used was because it was haunted… And that the water here was holy/gave energy… And I DID feel more energetic when I drank it :stuck_out_tongue:

And Doctor Who? Wow…

Hmm, my imaginaton is running crazy here, I mean, some magick systems in fiction are VERY useful. Like, putting your imagination on the phisycal world and affecting it however you desire, trapping other people inside, making them unable to connect the outside world… (Reality Marble), Magick Circuits, Teleport Magick to get out of sticky situation, enhancing your body to superhuman levels, time travel… My otaku side is getting out of control, sorry XD

And well, I feel like this is a very interesting topic, since it means that magick really was no limit…

I have done some with information from a so called fictional world, and had good results.

Go try it and keep a record of your results.

No, it’s a fair point - but one that’s hard to explain perhaps, because it has to do with the interplay of my personality and a bunch of stuff. I’m not shy about jumping into something new but on this occasion I felt the caution was valid, for example the way I feel empowered by the new work I’m doing with Ahriman, empowered in a way I never experienced before in my life, shows there was something HUGE missing from my life before, but I honestly don’t feel I’m close to fully understanding that yet.

Cusp, Dr Who - whoa yeah!!

I also like Star Trek, they never give up in that and never say die, whether it’s James T. Kirk bullshitting about corbomite, or Beverly Crusher handling everyone she loves vanishing without trace from reality, and the entire universe folding in around her… great stuff!
