Feast of Dionysus vs Last Supper

You may have heard of an ongoing controversy regarding the opening ceremony of the Olympics in France.

What was a reenactment of the Feast of Dionysus was seen as a mockery of the Last Supper… So what does it mean? That ancient religions and myths can no longer be referenced just because Christianity stole so many elements from those earlier cults?

I don’t think it’s merely a theory that many elements of Judaism and Christianity stem from earlier myths and events: Adam and Eve, the Flood, Madonna and Child, the Cross, the Resurrection, the rosary, Easter, Xmas, etc. And Islam stems from Judaism, Christianity, and some older myths as well.

I’m not liking this backlash 'cause it reeks of “blasphemy law,” censorship, restriction of artistic expression, the fight against diversity, and it shows the power religion still holds in 2024, even though it’s more symbolic than anything else (rare are those who truly uphold all religious commandments).

What do you think?

By the way, Madonna’s done much worse than that:
