What is your source for this. I am an ex-Christian and I am well versed in the original languages of the bible (Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek) and I can pretty much state that the bible is translated as close to the original text as possible. Except of course for the explicit sexual references, those are casually translated badly.
An example is in the story of Ruth when Ruth laid down at Boaz’s “feet” to entice him to marry her. When really feet is a common Hebrew euphemism for genitals. And if you ever take the time to learn ancient Hebrew and read the Song of Solomon in Hebrew it is quite literally soft-core porn.

i was also a christian. you said a right thing but my opinion about this based on experience is that most believers and even leaders understand the scriptures very far from the deep meaning. i honestly say am not been a hard dying researcher of the scriptures but many times i’ve used those scriptures to find answers about universal understanding. And that’s the way I had found the deeper meaning I have just mentioned.
