Does Use Of Pornography Harm One's Magick?

Didn’t read most of the thread but my thoughts on it: A lot of magick runs on desire, and pornography can severely decrease desire in several areas, making the desire less sincere, so in that way it can cripple magick a lot. Masturbation tends to have a numbing affect for a while, but wears off quickly depending on your sex drive. But pornography can have a more lasting effect, so best to quit before doing a working for added power and new desires.

porn can be a problem, the individual who gets hooked on porn has immediate pleasure at the touch of a button, combine that with other factors such as loneliness or low self esteem, and high amounts of repressed sexual desires, and possible hatred of the opposite sex, the person may go down a spiral where he or she is always searching for newer stuff and grosser stuff, as he or she needs a new high, porn is like a drug for many, unless your mental state is ok, porn can be a potential risk without you even realising it.

Yeah that’s often what happens, porn distorts reality horribly and thus the viewers mind starts to lose touch with the world around them

i get your point and you are right as well, however, porn can make you go down a hole you never thought youd go with your bad thoughts, what started with simple rough sex turns into bdsm and so on, ive read stories on NoFap where people ended up into bestiality at some point, both our points are very valid, the thoughts begin within, but porn can make you curious, and the mind is a tool that must not be played with, but protected

with porn, most have a habit of not realizing where fantasy ends and reality begins.

Well when I was a young teen watching it , it destroyed / affected every aspect of my life and affected my neurotransmitters very negatively , I was doing great before I discovered it, I would say once every 2-4 weeks is fine but it’s not good

There’s nothing wrong with bdsm, most are born liking that before they even view porn, What becomes the problem is when people start getting into stuff they never were because their dopamine gets burnt out

You are telling as if you are also working with them.

Oh i read your post now.
Sorry

@Lady_Eva Jesus fucking Christ (pun intended) from @Norski 's analogy of magick as relating to the way he dates to your simply superb debate with “let everyone die because strength versus weakness” anonymous person this thread has truly made me seriously consider not just NoFap but an entire plethora of things I don’t think i would have otherwise.
Long story short, you have, as usual created something incredible with this post

I haven’t read through the whole thread yet, but I really enjoyed your comments on the subject.

I tend to agree with you in general, with perhaps a few points of divergence.

Sacred prostitution used to be a thing in the past and still is in some parts of India. I do think that women enjoying sex and pornography, as well as having orgasms in the process differs significantly from men doing the same.

I don’t know whether you are familiar with the process of Urdhvareta, it is a yogic practice designed to enhance and sustain the Kundalini experience, by way of Semen retention.

One of the tricks of the trade is engaging in stimulating sexual activity, even orgies in some cases, for the purpose of increasing the activity of the sex organs in order to channel that energy upwards, along the spine and into the brain, which leads to illumination. The energy can also be used to produce Siddhis. The Semen itself doesn’t leave the body upon orgasm but enters the spinal column and seeps upwards into the brain, so it is transmuted to serve a higher spiritual purpose. The orgasm that can be had in this way (for men) is quite different from the regular ejaculatory type and is more of a full-body, energetic type that is also a lot more intense and far less physical. I believe that female orgasms are somewhat similar in this respect.

In any case, this is the whole purpose of sacred and temple prostitution originally, apart from causing pleasure, it serves a higher spiritual purpose in transmuting the profane and physical into the sacred and spiritual.

If you look at my profile picture, it is a coloured version of the Burney Relief, which in itself is believed to have originally adorned the entrance to a brothel. The deity it depicts, whom you mentioned, Inanna / Ishtar, was the patron goddess of prostitutes and her temples were very prominent in ancient Mesopotamia, especially in Uruk, where the Relief is from.

Ancients had a very different relationship to sex than we do, in fact their sex life was very much like a porn movie. It was normal for people to engage in public sex, on the streets, in front of everyone, in temples, often in groups, in all sorts of combinations between men, women and transgender people. In fact Inanna favoured transgender people as her priests when she ruled Uruk.

It is another, long post to explore, how the transmutation of sexes was a central part of her cult, so I won’t go into it here.

The point is, we are very much returning to this ancient equilibrium, where all kinds of sex acts that used to be illegal or frowned upon a few decades ago are now becoming normalised. I live in a country, where some sex acts that would carry a prison sentence in some other countries, such as the US, are actually legal. This includes prostitution, bestiality and even the production of bestiality porn. Not that I necessarily agree with the latter, but being a libertarian at heart, I don’t oppose it either.

So in any case, my personal note to you is that you are doing a fine thing and performing a sacred duty by your work and I think men really appreciate women like you, who are open about their sexuality and provide a much-needed feminine sexual complement to their more masculine energetic make up. I am not so sure about the virtual aspect, I think a human touch is needed and the virtual is no replacement for the physical and energetic, though in these lockdown times, it is perhaps better than nothing.

Another thing to add to the porn aspect of this topic, is that pornography is about as ancient as art itself. The most ancient mother goddess figurine, from 70.000 years ago was probably used at least partially as a masturbatory aid. It certainly was designed to induce sexual desire in whoever fondled it or looked at it, in its own prehistoric way. Pornographic scenes depicted in ancient art, especially in temples of love, were common. In India, you can still see quite a few examples. The one I saw was in a Jain temple in Ranakpur, but there are more famous examples still. Generally you will see couples engaged in all sorts of sex acts and even ritual orgies. And yes, tantric practitioners still engage in this and temple prostitutes are still a thing.

The erotic depictions serve a particular purpose, they stimulate the production of Soma in the sex organs, which, like I said in the previous post, streams upwards to stimulate the pineal gland and produce DMT, a prerequisite for mystical and religious experiences.

This only works on Tantric practitioners, as they have learned to subsume their sexual energies and orgasms, so there is no outward release of sex energy in the form of semen. In fact, this is strictly forbidden in Tantra, except in the form of disciples ritually consuming the semen of a tantric master, which is believed to contain an extremely concentrated form of spiritual power. The semen is mixed into a hallucinogenic drink of some sort and consumed by other practitioners, though don’t ask me, how it is extracted.

This further adds to the point made above regarding the harmfulness of pornography. I don’t believe it would be harmful in itself, but when someone overdoes the fapping and they lose a lot of spiritual essence in the process, it would certainly affect them negatively, as each orgasm would be a drain on their energy reserves. Ayurvedic doctors generally recommend a weekly release of semen as healthy.

Personally, when I embarked on my Kundalini awakening practice, I had a Buddhist girlfriend who was open to experimenation and I learnt to strengthen the muscles that are responsible for holding back urine. By clenching this muscle at the point of no return, just before ejaculation, I was able to stop it in its tracks.

The benefits were manifold. I was able to stay hard indefinitely and give my gf at the time as many orgasms as she wanted. I noticed that each time she came, she exerted a sucking motion, both energetically and physically, which enhanced my own dry, full-body orgasms and the whole energetic effect of arousing Kundalini from her slumber.

According to my GF my manhood also became harder and physically larger as a result. Sorry, for the graphic description, but given the subject matter, it can hardly be avoided.
