Do I have to worship or devote myself to Lucifer if I'm asking something or making a deal?

Let’s say, I summon Lucifer on my altar and ask for guidance and strength in my future all around. I feel it is right to offer a devotion or “kneeling down” yourself in front of Lucifer, and I’ve been reading a lot of Luciferianism and they state that they do not worship any deity as it is bad to put yourself down to another being. In my view, Lucifer is a real spirit who you can call upon for guidance, and I just think it’s right to worship and respect such deity, and this view of Luciferianism contradicts with mine. Can I just go along with my own belief if I want to be a Luciferian, or do I have to accept and change that I should not be devoted to Lucifer?

You’re completely fine to hold that view and seek that type of relationship with Lucifer but I’m not sure if it’d be appropriate to consider yourself a ‘Luciferian’ since it’s a path based on his trait of rebellion and not one of worship. However, since it is a path of individual self-determination above all else I guess you technically could (although worshipping someone/something goes against that ultimately).

Realistically speaking you don’t need to change your belief for anyone unless you want to yourself. There’s not really a need to put a label on your path or practice in the first place.

Yes. No worship is required to work with any entity. Even Christians work with demons.

Devotion is a good thing if you actually want to build a strong connection to Lucifer (as in devotion to the relationship you’re building and the path you’re walking), but not really needed if what you’re seeking is just a one time aid with something.

Worship and actually devoting yourself to Lucifer is not necessary. That is building yourself up to place of servitude. Which is fine if that is what you’re seeking, but not in line with Luciferianism. In many cases especially with the more rebellious spirits it also doesn’t really earn their respect as you think it would.
