What are the divine names for the planets of old astrology?
Bet @anon74630111 knows the answer to this…
What do you mean by divine names?
Names of God
The Planets themselves are not God. Why would they have names of God?
Ugh, the reason why I ask is for some world building. In a fantasy novel I’m working on, there’s a faction that essentially is designed to convert the non-human inhabbitants to their religion. I’m designing a magic system for this faction.
The base magic system in this world is based off the planets of old astrology, Sol through Saturn. The planets are referred to as Arcana, each ruling over different types of magic. For example, The Arcana of Luna deals with the spirit world, fate, and the element of water.
Each faction will have their own variation. But system for the faction I’m worldbuilding right now is based off of their religion. They have a single god collectively called Theos. But he is also has seven other names that describe various roles he plays. When used in prayer, one invokes these names to have access to some sort of divine power granted by Theos. This system is referred to as the 7 divine names, each corresponding to an arcana.
This novel is meant to include elements and references into magick and the occult. So, I wanted to use real names for God, but preferably ones that are not publicly well known.
