Demons accomplishment of task dependent on Ascent?

Referring to a recent newsletter from EA

I was surprised to read where a Demon asked the Evocator to work on the task.

Does this mean that the success of the evocation is dependent on whether the task enables one’s Ascent?

If so, is the Demon then taking on a role of personal Guide regarding matters of the path or nature of one’s Ascent?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts on this.

I think the spirit told him the best and most effective route, not sure if it really has anything to do with ascent or not. Sometimes we just need a little push to realize we are more capable of doing things for ourselves than we give our self credit for.
