This is where knowledge of the original languages of the Scriptures comes in handy. In Genesis 2:18, “17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall die.'” The Hebrew construction of “in the day… you shall die” is בְּיֹ֛ום… מֹ֥ות תָּמֽוּת׃ (b’yom… mut t’mut.) this is roughly translated as “in [that] day… dying you will die.” the double mut (a verb meaning to die) is an uncommon Hebrew contruction, but one that we do see agai…
