COP - which direction

Quick question. My mind is in a haze today - is the COP ment to be in a specific position …say Azazel facing South etc.

azazel to the north, belial to the south, abaddon to the west, and amaymon to the east.

If I was going to use the COP for evoking things other than Demons could I replace the Demonic kings with say symbols of the elements and it would still function as a COP? I have time alone tomorrow to make it at last!
