Stephen Hawking teaches THEORETICAL PHYSICS at CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY. Every thing he talks about is theory. EVERYTHING. Other people may perform experiments based on his theories and models, but he does not. He is a theoretical physicist and cosmologist who theorizes about the universe. He HYPOTHESIZED the existence of radiation emitted from black holes, in 1974, (termed Hawking radiation) but it was years later, in 2010, that someone claimed to have proven its existence (the paper in question is unverified and hotly debated.)
Maybe you should take some time to read Hawkingâs writings and papers, if you can undrstand the abstract mathmatics involved.

To be as frank as possible, you need to realize that all things are simultaneously true, untrue, and neither⌠go do some reading on chaos theory and non-linearity and what not, then read about Godelâs theorem. Then listen to some music and walk around completely aimlessly and get lost in an area youâve never been to⌠try to understand that any idea of ânormalcyâ is an illusion and all things are inherently absurd, all things are a distortion of symmetrical nothingness and that ânothingnessâ and âeverythingnessâ are precisely the same thing and that theyâre both actually in between each other⌠when you start seeing how relevant the concept of absurdity is here, then start thinking about the phenomenon of laughter⌠it doesnât really serve a purpose or even make sense⌠it can be experienced at the height of all other emotions and it is itâs own oppositeâŚ
