Clairvoyance 101 - Imagination, Visualization, & Clairvoyance

Clairvoyance 101

The word “clairvoyance” is a combination of the French words for clear and vision.

Clairvoyance is the ability to see through the third eye, mind’s eye, astral eyes, or whatever you want to call it.

This ability is how you will be able to see energy, spirits, and everything in the astral / spiritual realms without doing a full shift of consciousness (astral projection, soul travel, etc).

Everybody is clairvoyant to some degree. Becoming fully clairvoyant requires practice and meditation, like every other spiritual practice.

While clairvoyance allows you to visualize and image the energetic and spiritual world, it is not the same thing as visualization or imagination.

Many people confuse visualization, imagination, and clairvoyance with each other.

Before speaking more about clairvoyance, here is a brief comparison of the definitions of imagination and visualization:

The dictionary definition of imagination is “The ability to form mental images of things that are not present to the senses or not considered to be real.” Or, “To have a notion of or about without adequate foundation; fancy or believe.” Imagination is a word with many different meanings behind it. For the sake of simplicity, your imagination is a series of mental images based on what you are currently thinking, feeling, or both. Your unique imagination occurs inside of your head only, and is not real in the sense that it does not have any direct physical or spiritual effect.

The dictionary definition of “visualize” is “to form a mental image.” The dictionary definition of “visualization” is “the act or process of interpreting in visual terms or of putting into visible form,” or “the act or process of visualizing.” Clairvoyance and imagination both fall under the category of visualization and can both be considered visualization in their own separate ways, just how visualization is also considered imagination by some people because of the dictionary definitions. However, there is a difference between them in the occult.

Before further establishing how clairvoyance is different that imagination and visualization, let’s first continue understanding the difference between imagination and visualization in an occult context.

Visualization is different than imagination because visualization involves direct intent. When you want to do a meditation to cleanse your energy, for example, how do you actually cleanse your energy? How do you know if you aren’t just breathing in and out, or if what you are doing even has any actual spiritual effect? This is where visualization and intent comes into play. With the intention to cleanse your energy along with using your imagination to visualize your energy being cleansed, this would then trigger your energy bodies to clean itself out and dispose of any toxic energy. You can visualize a hole opening in your solar plexus, and then nasty brown mud flowing out of it and burning away, as an example of cleansing. However, the energy wouldn’t actually look like nasty brown mud, or whatever you have visualized. Visualization is simply a tool to be used in combination with your intent in order to produce a real energetic effect while meditating. Visualization is a lot more crisp and clear than imagination is. Also, your imagination is more passive, while visualization is an act you do.

Meanwhile, using Clairvoyance, you would actually be able to see what the energy actually looks like, what parts of your energy body needs to be cleansed, and so on. Clairvoyance and visualization both have different uses, and are both important to learn in order to have further success in your spiritual evolution. The reason why clairvoyance can fall under the dictionary definition of “visualization” is because clairvoyance gives you a “visual” of the spiritual world, and visualization itself involves the use of imagination.
