I recently purchased the latest Corwin Hargrove’s book Celestial Angel Magick: Pathworking and Sigils for The Mansions of The Moon and just finished reading it.
I have no solid experience in magick but the process seems really simple.
It involves pathworking, so you need to have decent visualization… The process is so simple that, for the moment, it leaves me rather skeptical… (I don’t want to make a snap judgment before trying the method though!)
The source of the book is supposed to be ancient grimoires (in my opinion Arabic or Arabo-Andalusian, according to the seals style and the angels names).
The spirits involved are supposed to be lunar angels, (but I have the impression that these are probably genies related to pre-Islamic culture).
In all there are 28 angels. Their powers seem to be more into personal development rather than earthly achievements. I cite one to give an example
The angel 14. Al-Simak, among other powers, “Can help you when you are seeking inner security and stability”
I will try this method as soon as possible and keep you updated. Has anyone else bought the book and wants to try it?
Kindly give us an update once you finish reading it. I like Corwin and I just want to see if this is similar to Universal Magick or just pathworking like the Goetia where you have to look for specific powers……
i just finished reading the book. The method therein is a combination of sigil gazing and pathworking. The powers of the angels are described in very broad terms, and Corwin states in the book that you should spend some time to really understand your desires and to follow your intuition to find the right angel.
And when I say the powers are given in broad terms, I mean, rather than saying something like “be more convincing when you speak” (a power of Ipos given in his book Goetia Pathworking), it says more general things like “provides inspiration and support for success in any aspect of your life” and the magician is required to interpret how that can be applied.
And for those who don’t like pathworking because they think they can’t visualize very well, Corwin says in the book that simply reading the descriptions with the intention to communicate the images to the angels is all you need so don’t worry about whether or not you can visualize perfectly. Your mind automatically creates an image when you read anyway.
Hey thanks, I hadn’t realised he had released another book. Just bought the e book.
Will likely be a few weeks before I can read it on account of being busy as heck.
I have all of his books. Some I have had success with, others I have had no success with.
Everyone is different.
I look forward to getting stuck into this one when I can find the time
I just performed my first ritual. Hargrove is right when he says in the book that it might seem too simple to be effective. It only took two or three minutes and it was done.
I did, however, get that click in my head that I always get when energy comes in so I will say the sigils do seem quite active energetically.
I didn’t do the one hour preparation that Hargrove always recommends in his books, but I did do a ten minute meditation before commencing with the ritual. He say that you can dress up the short ritual in any way you want to so you are free to add trance, chants, and candles if the simplicity seems too simple and you want to feel like you actually did something.
Im just flipping through it now. I’ll read it properly over the weekend. But I see what you mean about the sigils, as hard as it is to see the tiny characters, even just looking them over for a short time gets some notable third eye sensations going.
I also see what you meant in your earlier post about the powers being described in very general ways.
Okay so I hadnt realised how short the book was. So I read it before bed last night and did my first ritual. Short but strong. It was to remove my procrastination in my day job (which has long been an issue for me).
Today I found myself full of energy, focus and mostly procrastination free.
I can’t be sure if this is a result of this ritual or of the recent black light group ritual.
Therefore, I will do one of the rituals aimed at third parties from this book tonight and see if there are observable results (making no presumption on timeframes).
I also have a question. This will largely be speculative as the author doesn’t address this in the book. Most of the powers are aimed at internal change. Those that are aimed at others, seem all to be in relation to the third party and their actions/thoughts/feelings towards the operator. This is all well and good, but I am wondering about the veracity then of aiming the internally focussed powers at third parties. Ie, could I use these to help someone else, or is the magicians personal desire to experience the desired change themselves a critical factor here?
Welcome @Great_Wizard It is a rule of this forum for all new members to properly introduce themselves so PLEASE CLICK ON THE IMAGE BELOW and tell us about yourself and any experience you may have in magick, such as what you practice, how long you have practiced, areas of interest, etc:
Just a small update: i feel the ritual I did from the book was successful, though the result was a very subtle one and easily missed. I had tasked SA’D Al-SU’UD with helping me to cultivate a sense of gratitude and appreciation for my life.
