If Solomon bound these Goetic spirits to the symbols are they trapped in a void? It’s just occurred that the spirits may be trapped, like maybe in some sort of cage. I could be wrong. Would it be possible to free a demon from this imprisonment?

Solomon trapped them in a brass vessel but hundreds of years later the vessel was broken and the spirits freed. So says the mythology.
As far as I am aware, the spirits of the Goetia are not bound to their symbols, but rather the symbols were given as a sort of phone number to call upon them. That is why there are so many variations. Some magicians are lucky enough to get their private line.

Possibly. we are all trapped in the biggest binding of consciousness. To our bodies. It stays that way until we practice unchaining our consciousness through soul travel.
