I am critical with candle spells.
What should be the reason by which such
spells work. Which energy does the work?

Well, there are probably millions of ways to use candles for spells. I can think of a way to use almost any object.
Sometimes, I just meditate on a candle. Blowing it out and watching the smoke lift up is the abracadabra moment. For curses, I’ve left the ritual candle burning. I walk away knowing that it will go out, or be put out by an unknowing accomplice. It works.

Supra-rational understanding will probably get you better results with these things. However, if you know about the classic voodoo dolls, you will probably find a certain logic in candle curses or candle healing. It works by linking the target to the candle, so the energy moves as the candle melts. As the candle shrinks, the person becomes more and more sick or healed, depending on your intentions and what you believe about the color of the clandle and perhaps the oil you use. I’m not a fan of that technique because it requieres candles and they need to be bought and I rather buy another tarot deck.
